Junior Highs host 5th grade visits Junior Highs host 5th grade visits

At the end of April and the start of May, Grove Junior High will host elementary school visits designed to provide incoming students with a tailored experience led by our Student Leaders. These visits give students an inside look at junior high from a student’s perspective, helping them feel more comfortable with the transition.

During their visit, students will participate in:

  • An introduction to Grove Junior High

  • Meet-and-greet sessions with teachers and counselors

  • an overview of coursework expectations

  • A school tour and Bingo challenge

  • Final elective discussions and selection process to complete schedule planning

To further personalize the experience, junior high administrators will visit elementary schools the week before to gather questions from students. This allows us to tailor the visit based on what incoming students want to know and learn.

We are excited to support our future Elks as they prepare for this next step!

  • Monday, April 28th- Byrd and Rupley

  • Thursday, May 1st- Ridge and Clearmont

  • Friday, May 2nd- Salt Creek (walking trip with a rain date of May 9th)

6th grade Orientation in August 6th grade Orientation in August

Every year, our incoming 6th graders have orientation at Grove for 1 morning the week before school starts. The exact date will be determined soon and be shared out.

Even if you have had students at our junior high before, we highly encourage your child attends orientation. With new schedules and structures in place next year, orientation is a key opportunity to understand the logistics and expectations of junior high.

During orientation, we will provide important information about:

  • Daily schedules – understanding class rotations and key transitions

  • Building logistics and expectations – key policies, procedures, and how to navigate junior high

  • Touring the school with student ambassadors

  • Participate in interactive activities to start building new frienships

We look forward to guiding students and families through this exciting transition!
