A note from Ms. Ballard

We have 14 days until Spring Break. In these two weeks we want to continue to improve and progress in our learning and skills. Please strive to check in with your child. Communicating with your child about school each afternoon/evening helps bridge the gap between home and school. Our teamwork matters as your child is more likely to be successful.

Use the questions below to guide your conversation:

  • What was the best thing that happened at school today?
  • Tell me something that made you laugh today.
  • Whom would you like to sit by in class? Why?
  • Where is the coolest place at the school?
  • If I called your teacher tonight, what would she tell me about you?

Thank you for all you do to help your child each day!

Testing Tips Testing Tips

The info below contains recommendations to help your child be successful.

Testing Season is almost here. Read below to begin preparing your child for end of the year testing.

Review basic math facts. These are often the building blocks of more difficult questions your child will encounter on the test. Suggestions: as cars pass name the colors, count how many signs you see on a car ride, create word problems while eating dinner: If Jim has five cookies and gives three cookies to his sister, how many cookies does he have left?

Review strategies for solving math problems. Pose a problem and see how many different ways your child can solve it. This encourages higher-order thinking skills. Sugggestions of how to solve a math problem: draw a picture, imagine it, count on a number line, use a one hundreds chart, etc.

There are changes to the BCS Volunteer/Chaperone Process. Those wanting to become a Level I (Unsupervised) or Level II (Supervised) Volunteer will need to complete the following steps.

· Watch Meghan's Law video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jwb-Z9luNVU

· Complete a quiz and attain a score of 80% or above related to the video and BCS procedures https://forms.office.com/r/r6rk3ktUsk

After completion, those requesting to be a volunteer will receive a customized message with next steps. A follow-up email will be sent by the district to provide specific instructions for next steps depending on the level (Level I Volunteers the background check link & Level II Volunteers school approval list status).

Attendance Matters Attendance Matters

Check your child's planner and folder each night to check the attendance tracker.

Please aim to send your child to school each day. If your child is not sick, please send them to school.

Walkers

We understand that older siblings may need to walk our kiddos home. Please be sure your child's teacher is aware of this arrangement. We have a new form to be completed by parents/guardians of students that are walked home by siblings that are under 18 years of age. Once the teacher is made aware, we will send home the form.
