Reminders for This Week

  • School for 5 days a week is going to be tiring this first week back for students and their teachers. Please help us by ensuring your child gets plenty of rest prior to school each day.

  • CHROMEBOOK RETURN - Chromebooks should be brought tomorrow with the charger and turned into the classroom teachers. If you forget, it may be dropped off at the front desk or returned on Tuesday. It is important that we get these back ASAP so that teachers may begin using them in classroom lessons.

  • Car line in the morning will be longer! Morning carline begins at 7:15 and ends at 7:40 a.m. This year, we have been giving grace until 7:45 but please try to be here by 7:40 a.m.

  • Students who are eating breakfast at school should be at school by 7:30 a.m. in order to give them time to eat and be ready to learn by 7:45 a.m. Lines will be longer so please arrive early.

  • Prior to arriving under the awning of car line, please ensure your child is ready to get out of the car. Check for masks, water bottles, lunches, P.E. shoes, etc. as you leave home and drive up to get out. This will help us keep moving.

  • If you are a bus rider, please be sure you are ready and looking for the bus. Make yourself visible so the driver knows you are riding.

  • Car line in the afternoon will begin at 2:50 p.m. It will be longer! We hope to be finished by 3:05 p.m. however, so please be in line and have your number visible to our staff. A reminder, if you do NOT have your number with you, please do not get in the car line. We cannot check IDs in the car line and so you will need to park and see the front desk to pick up your child. Walkers must also have a car line number.

  • Bring any completed work to your teacher. All packets done during hybrid should be turned in on Monday.

Safety Precautions will Continue

Even though we are moving to Level 1, we are not letting our guard down in regard to safety for our students and staff. The following safety measures will remain in place at Level 1:

  1. All students and staff will have their temperatures taken on arrival each day. Those showing a fever will be checked by the nurse and a parent called if needed.
  2. Students and staff will wear masks unless they are eating. While eating, we are sitting on only one side of a lunch table and spacing out as much as possible. Mask breaks will continue to be provided.
  3. Students are also provided a desk shield and do not share supplies.
  4. Students are assigned seats in the lunchroom and in all classes so that we can quarantine anyone exposed to someone who is positive. Even though this is a pain, it does keep us from spreading the virus further.
  5. Water fountains are only being used as water bottle fill stations.
  6. Library, Music, Guidance, and our 5th grade teachers are coming to the classrooms for their instruction rather than students moving into different spaces. Therefore, students remain in their own space and are not sharing spaces with others.
  7. Rooms, bathrooms, and common areas are cleaned and sanitized daily with a special chemical provided specifically to prevent the spread of COVID and other diseases. High touch areas like door knobs are cleaned by our custodial staff and teachers throughout the day.
  8. Sadly, we will not be participating in outside field trips at this time.
  9. Visitors inside the building will continue to be limited to those with essential business.

If you have a question about how we are handling something specific, please email Mrs. McAlister. jmcalister@mccsk12.org

Will we be able to exchange Valentine cards?

Many parents and teachers have asked me this questions recently and the short answer is YES. I always leave this up to the classroom teacher but if the teacher wishes to do this, then it will be allowed this year. I have asked that teachers begin a few days early and let the cards sit before they are taken home to ensure we are not passing along any COVID germs.

Any parent who does not wish for their student to participate, if their class is exchanging valentines, should email the teacher to let him/her know. Activities like this are strictly voluntary.
