Good Morning,
It was great to see so many families attend conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week. We thank you for partnering with us as we know that strong family connections foster a sense of belonging and support which contributes to a student's social/emotional development and overall well-being.
Thank you to the Parent Council for sponsoring Pitter Patter Puppets for our students. Every classroom was able to participate in a 45 minute puppet show that was filled with silly songs, storytelling, rhyming, while stimulating a sense of self expression, sensory awareness, and lots of fun!
And lastly, it was Lifetouch picture week. The students looked fabulous for picture day! The photographers were fantastic working their magic to get the best pictures possible for our families to treasure!
WECC Special Olympics for the Young Athlete on April 30th and May 1st outside in the parking lot closest to door #7 (front door). The Special Olympic Young Athletes Program is an early childhood program for children with and without intellectual disabilities. It is an inclusive sport and play program where children learn basic sport and locomotor movements such as running, jumping, balancing, kicking and throwing. Skills learned include: how to play with others, sharing, turn taking and following directions.
We hope families will be able to attend to watch your preschooler compete. Events include: Bean Bag Toss, Balance Beam, 25 yard dash, Jumping station and Soccer Kick. See the schedule below.
Have a great weekend!

About this Series
The Backpack Connection Series was created by TACSEI to provide a way for teachers and parents/caregivers to work together to help young children develop social emotional skills and reduce challenging behavior.
Each Backpack Connection handout provides information that helps parents stay informed about what their child is learning at school and specific ideas on how to use the strategy or skill at home
How to Understand the Meaning of Your Child's Behavior
WECC caterpillar continues to grow for Super Friend behavior in the cafeteria.
I'm a Super Reader
Help us reach our goal of 10,000 books
One of the most important gifts we can give our children is to help them learn to read and write so that they can succeed in school and beyond. Confident, active readers are able to use their reading skills to follow their passions and curiosity about the world. We all read for a purpose: to be entertained, to take a journey of the imagination, to connect with others, to figure out how to do something, and to learn about history, science, the arts, and everything else.
We hope to foster the love of reading in our students. Please help us by helping your child read each day. Attached is a reading chart that your child can color each time they read a book. Bring the reading chart to school once all apples are colored and your child will receive a Super Reader sticker. You may choose to only read 10 books per month or submit as many reading charts as you want. We will be keeping track by classroom. If WECC students reach the goal of 10,000 books, we will have a Bubble party at the end of the year.
Help our students reach their goal!
