Wildcat Community,

What an exciting and eventful couple of weeks it has been at Cedar Bluffs High School! Our students have truly shown their Wildcat spirit through a full lineup of activities — from volleyball and football games to Pink Out fundraisers, cross country meets, golf tournaments, and outstanding performances from both our band and choir. Today also marks the conclusion of the first quarter, and it’s hard to believe how quickly the school year is moving along.

As we transition into Quarter 2 on Monday, we encourage families to take a moment to review their child’s progress from the first quarter. If you were unable to attend parent-teacher conferences, progress reports will be mailed home soon to keep you informed and connected. Let’s continue building on this positive momentum and make Quarter 2 another great chapter in our school year. Go Wildcats!

ACT and PreACT: Preparing for Success

The ACT plays an important role in shaping students’ future opportunities. For many colleges, scholarships, and career programs, ACT scores are a key part of admissions and financial aid decisions. Beyond college applications, the test also helps measure students’ readiness for life after high school—whether they plan to attend college, enter the workforce, or pursue technical training.

Recently, our junior class and a few seniors completed the district ACT, and they will take the state ACT this spring.

To support their success, all sophomores, juniors, and seniors have access to John Baylor’s OnToCollege ACT Prep, a proven program that helps students boost their scores and build confidence.

Login Information:

  • Username: Student’s school email

  • Password: ontocollege

Students can log in and start preparing today at www.ontocollege.com.

Mark Your Calendar:

📅 October 23rd – All sophomores will take the PreACT. This assessment provides valuable insight into academic strengths and areas for growth, while familiarizing students with the ACT format. Sophomores can also take advantage of the OnToCollege test prep resources using the same login credentials above.

We encourage every student to make the most of these tools and practice opportunities. Consistent preparation can make a meaningful difference in future choices and open doors to scholarships, college admissions, and career readiness.

FAFSA

Attention Parents and Students!

We’re excited to invite you to our FAFSA Parent Night on Wednesday, October 30th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Cedar Bluffs High School.

Our staff will be on hand to walk you through the FAFSA application process, provide helpful tips, and answer any questions you may have about financial aid and college planning. This is a great opportunity to get personalized guidance and ensure you’re ready for the next step after high school.

Important Reminder:
Completing the FAFSA is now a graduation requirement in the state of Nebraska. If you choose not to complete the FAFSA, you’ll need to submit an opt-out form to meet this requirement. Opt-out forms are available from Mrs. Hof.

We hope to see you there!

SAFE DRIVING REMINDER: PROTECT OUR STUDENTS

As a community, it’s important that we all do our part to keep Cedar Bluffs students safe. Recently, there have been reports of drivers — both students and adults — speeding or driving erratically near the school, especially during drop-off and pick-up times.

Please remember:

  • Slow down when approaching school zones and crosswalks.

  • Stay alert for students crossing the street, especially during busy morning and afternoon hours.

  • Avoid distractions such as phones while driving near campus.

  • Be patient — a few extra minutes of caution can prevent serious accidents.

Our students’ safety is worth every precaution. Let’s work together to make the area around our school safe for everyone.

AVEL NURSE - SCHOOL HEALTH

Avel School Health Nurse Program

Our school participates in the Avel School Health Nurse Program, which helps us provide quick access to healthcare during the school day.

  • How it works: If a student isn’t feeling well, they can visit with a registered nurse virtually through an iPad.

  • What the nurse does: The nurse will assess your child’s symptoms and make recommendations for care.

  • Parent communication: If the nurse feels your child should go home, you will receive a phone call directly from the nurse to discuss next steps. Please note: the call will come from 605-606-0550, which is not a school number. We encourage you to save this number in your contacts for easy recognition.

This program helps ensure that students get timely medical attention while at school and gives parents peace of mind knowing a licensed nurse is available when needed.

For questions about this service, please contact Mrs. Shaylee Siems at the high school office.
