SOAR Art Contest ENTRIES DUE FRIDAY
Students! It's that time of the year, get ready for our annual S.O.A.R ART CONTEST! Throughout the years, Red Wing High School has held this contest and has collected all kinds of works from many students. These collected works are from past winners and are the ones you see throughout the cafeteria area. This year, our school is now looking to add more submissions to this respected wall. This is an awesome opportunity for 8-12th graders to get some creativity out there and earn a chance to be a part of RWHS history.
Below you will find the requirements for the contest:
- Student work MUST be submitted to the Art department, finished, and READY TO BE DISPLAYED between the dates of April 28th- May 9th. *NO early or late work accepted.
- Each student may enter up to 2 pieces of ORIGINAL art. No Ai generated art or copy work will be accepted. If you use a reference image, your final artwork must be altered enough to be considered your own work and not a copy of the original artists' work.
*Any 2D art (photography, paintings, drawings, printed digital, etc.) and 3D art (sculptures, clay, etc.) will be accepted*
-Winning artworks will be added to the RWHS permanent collection and the artist will surrender ownership. Winning artists will be paid $50 for their artwork.
- All works will be on display from May 19-23th
- The winners will be announced at the SOAR rally on May 23
See Mrs. Bray or Mrs. Larson with questions.

RWHS Food Pantry
Students!
Did you know our school has a food pantry? You can request food and some toiletry items from the nurse and a discreet bag will be filled for you to take home by end of day!
May 23: Spring Dental Clinic
CARE Clinic’s school visits are scheduled for the first half of 2025, and we couldn’t be more excited to provide dental care to students throughout Goodhue and Wabasha Counties!
If your school-aged child(ren) need dental care and attend one of these schools — and they are uninsured or covered by MA or MNCare — keep an eye out for a consent form from the school nurse. Nurses will also be sending these forms home, but you’re always welcome to reach out to request one if needed. We’d love to help keep those smiles healthy!

- On Thursday, April 24th, the RWHS Music Department participated in Solo/Ensemble Contest at Rushford-Peterson High School. The choral students had 45 entries in the contest, with 36 earning “Superior” ratings, and 9 earning “Excellent” ratings. The choral students also nabbed 3 of 4 “Best in Site” awards in the vocal rooms. Best in Sites included an SATB octet consisting of Evan Nelson, Julius Koehler, Jonah Scott, Abby Schmaltz, Hallie Johnson, Annika Johnson, and Maria Olson, a TTB Trio of Jonah Scott, Thomas Doig, and Evan Nelson, and Thomas Doig’s vocal solo. It was a fantastic night of showcasing the talent in our choral department!
- Piper Ryan and Beatrix Lahammer: These two were just elected onto the Southeast Division of Student Councils' Executive Board! Piper will serve as the Secretary, and Beatrix will be the Vice President next year. I am so proud of them for campaigning, taking the opportunity to engage with other schools in our region, and being willing to step into these leadership positions. I'm excited to see what they accomplish next year - RWHS is fortunate to have such great student leaders! -Mrs. Roschen
