Dear SGB Families,
In recent days, the news and conversations in the wider world may feel heavy, confusing, and sometimes divisive. We recognize that issues such as gun violence, political debate, and cultural division deeply affect many families, and our hearts and prayers remain with all lives lost to violence of any kind.
I want to reassure you that at SGB, politics are not part of our mission or message. Our focus is, and always will be, on teaching the doctrine of our Catholic faith and living out the values of the Gospel. We are called to uphold empathy, compassion, forgiveness, human dignity, respect for life, service to others, and love of neighbor. These values are not tied to any political figure or movement, they are rooted in Christ Himself.
As a Catholic school community, we hold ourselves to the example of Jesus. While human role models may inspire us in moments, we know that all people are flawed. Our faith is best served when we strive to be Christ-like: patient, merciful, and committed to building peace and justice.
We encourage our students to turn to Saint Carlo Acutis, as a role model, who was recently canonized on September 7, 2025. Carlo was a young man of our own time who used his gifts to serve God. He devoted his life to the Eucharist, was known for his kindness and humility, and even used technology to spread the message of faith. His deep love for others, his joy in simple acts of charity, and his ability to live faithfully in a modern world make him a worthy example for young Catholics to follow.
Please know that your children are receiving an education centered on faith, character, and learning in an environment where they are safe, loved, and guided by the Gospel. Together, we remain united in prayer and in our mission to raise young people who carry these values into the world.
God Bless,
Ms. Clarke
Principal
