A note from the School Nurse A note from the School Nurse

Cold and Flu season is upon us once again. Preventative measures remain the most effective way to reduce the spread of influenza and other viral illnesses. Please review healthy hygiene habits with your student, such as hand washing and keeping hands away from their nose/mouth while at school.

Absences from School

Report all absences to the attendance line. Please provide reason for absences and whether or not your child has a communicable or contagious illness.

Keep a child home from school when:

• Your child has had a fever of 100 degrees F or more within the past 24 hours

• Your child has had vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours

• Your child has an unexplained rash, sore or pink eyes with a discharge

• Your child has a persistent, productive cough

** Your child must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school

** If a bacterial infection has been diagnosed, your child must have 24 hours of antibiotics before returning to school

** If your child has not fully recovered or remained home for the recommended length of time, parents may be contacted and asked to take the child home.

Extended Absences: Extended absences of 5 or more days may require that the student present a doctor's statement of re-admittance to the school nurse. For further information on childhood illnesses and diseases please go to Health Information on the D303 website, or contact your school nurse directly at: cor-nurses@d303.org

Artsonia Artsonia

Hello Corron Families,

My name is Joshua Lundquist, the new art teacher at Corron Elementary. It has been a great start to the year and we have seen so much creativity and enthusiasm here in the Corron art studio. We have opened a number of centers which students have access to choose from while creating their art, with many more centers to come.

Students are learning to direct their artwork individually, which allows for a wide variety of artistic voices, media, and concepts to be expressed. Students are also learning how to share their imaginative creations with classmates in person and with you digitally! Please take a moment to assure that you are connected with your children through the program Artsonia. Through this platform, students will curate a collection of artwork through their time at Corron, providing a digital portfolio and record of their hard work.

Thank you for your time,

Joshua Lundquist

During the holidays, things often become even more difficult for families who are struggling financially, and it’s common for the children in these families to go without during the holiday season. That's why we're helping Big Hearts of Fox Valley by hosting a toy collection box for their annual Holiday Toy Drive for children in need in D303. Drop off new, unwrapped toys, board games, and items for teens with us October 20th-November 12th.

Our collection box will be outside the main office from now until November 12th. Every Wednesday and Friday starting tomorrow members of our Corron Girl Scout Troops will have the box outside at drop off!

Below are some ideas of items that are needed - but anything kids and teens would enjoy (including gift cards) would be perfect.
