Construction Update
Southwest Corner of the Cooper Property
We are starting our 2nd year in the new building and it is hard to imagine discussing updates on construction! However, I wanted to share some updates regarding the unfinished field in the southwest corner of the property.
We have received a lot of questions from the community and the city regarding the southwest area of the Cooper property. This area of the project is now the responsibility of the school district to complete. This is very costly. There is demolition rubble from the site of the original Cooper school buried decades ago, that is now making its way to the surface. Large debris on the surface and near-surface prevent us from being able to mow it safely at this time.
We have prioritized preparing for the return to school during COVID and with the added costs of responding to this pandemic, this project must be pushed out until Summer 2021. Once we begin the school year we can then transition to requesting quotes to haul off the piles this fall. We apologize for the eyesore and appreciate your patience.
