Lockdown Drill Thursday 10/16/25
On Thursday, October 16 we will have a lockdown drill. A lockdown would be implemented should a situation arise in or around the building that could jeopardize the physical safety of students and staff. This drill will be conducted in partnership with the Palatine Police Department to ensure our procedures are in line with best practices to keep our students and staff safe; as such, you will see an increased police presence on campus during the drill. In order to minimize the disruption to instructional time, we will utilize an Activity Period bell schedule on Thursday, October 16th.
An announcement will be made the morning of October 16 notifying students of the drill and reminding them of our RUN-HIDE-SURVIVE protocol. In an actual emergency, students must evaluate the situation and either run away from the building or shelter-in-place in a safe area. For the drill, students who choose to run will be asked to remain in an interior vestibule until the drill has been completed. Students and staff will not know in advance about the timing of the drill.
Immediately following the initiation of the lockdown drill, both our website and outdoor marquee sign will have messaging posted informing the public that we are practicing a lockdown and that it is only a drill. In preparing this communication we realize that even the mention of the phrase “hard lockdown” can be alarming. We hope you will find the knowledge that we practice our responses to crises to be reassuring.
Parents or guardians who have concerns or questions about the drills or their student’s participation should contact Assistant Principal Kevin Farrell at (847) 755-2616 or kfarrell@d211.org.
School safety is everyone’s responsibility. If students are aware of concerning information, they are encouraged to notify a trusted adult in the building so that we can respond appropriately. We ask the same of our parents and community members. Parents can assist us in keeping our school safe by reporting matters of concern directly to an administrator. This includes when parents have concerns about their own child’s social and emotional struggles. Parents should encourage their student to report concerning behaviors as well.
There is a Safety Concern button located on every student’s iPad and on our website to report concerns about student safety. While this information can be submitted anonymously, please know that safety concerns can be addressed more effectively when the reporter provides contact information and as many details as possible. This allows administrators the opportunity to fully investigate, communicate, and at times, clarify misinformation.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership to ensure the Fremd High School community is a safe place for our students, staff, and community members.
Special Spaces 11/15/25
We’ve Got Your Back, Tommy! Let’s Make a Dream Room for an Incredible Kid
Meet Tommy — an energetic, kind-hearted 8-year-old and future District 211 student who’s showing the world what true bravery looks like as he takes on brain cancer with courage and a big smile.
On November 15, students from Fremd High School are teaming up to do something special:
We're creating the bedroom of Tommy’s dreams — a space full of comfort, creativity, and joy. A room that reflects his spirit and gives him a place to just be a kid.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 to bring this room to life — every dollar goes directly toward furniture, decorations, and all the touches that will make Tommy’s space truly magical.
With your support, and the passion of Fremd’s amazing student volunteers, we’re showing Tommy and his family that they are not alone. Their community is behind them — with heart, hope, and helping hands.
Fundraising Goal: $5,000 CLICK HERE TO DONATE!
