Principal of the Day
Quinn, a first grader from Clear Lake Elementary, served as Principal of the Day on Friday. He visited the district office for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour, sharing his top tips for organizing the custodial closet—along with plenty of life lessons on boosting efficiency. What a character! We’re all excited to see him shine in a leadership role as he continues his journey through our schools.
Cascade Middle School 8th Graders Get a First Look at Sedro-Woolley High School
For the first time, Cascade Middle School 8th graders had the opportunity to tour Sedro-Woolley High School (SWHS) during the school day, giving them a firsthand look at what awaits them next year. Leadership students from SWHS guided small groups of 8th graders—easily identified by color-coded wristbands—throughout the school, making stops at key locations and classrooms.
The tours allowed students to explore a variety of subjects and programs, including food production, child psychology, beginning woodworking, American Sign Language, and agricultural mechanics. Students also visited the library, where they met the high school librarians, and connected with teachers and club advisors.
Along the way, students were introduced to Ms. Rodriguez, who leads the Latinos in Action program; Mr. Johns, who teaches Human Anatomy and Physiology and advises the HOSA student leadership club for future health science professionals; and Ms. Wesen, a floral design and agriculture biology teacher who also serves as an FFA advisor. Mr. Dilley, who teaches photography and filmography, shared insights about the STEAM Club and the school's eSports team, which he coaches. Additionally, students visited a station hosted by Sports Medicine students to learn more about health science careers.
Other stops on the tour included the College & Career Center, cafeteria, athletic department, Woolley Clinic, Student Services/Nurse’s Office, ASB, and the Attendance/Main Office.
To help families learn more about high school life, all 8th graders and their families were invited to attend the 8th Grade Transition Night at SWHS. The event featured a welcome session in the auditorium, four 15-minute sessions highlighting different classes and activities, and opportunities to meet club representatives and staff members. The evening kicked off with an optional dinner in the cafeteria, where families could purchase BBQ Pulled Pork Sundaes.
This new initiative aims to help students feel more comfortable and excited about transitioning to high school. The hands-on experience and opportunities to meet teachers, advisors, and peers will ensure that next year’s freshmen start their journey at SWHS with confidence and enthusiasm.

Cascade Middle School Choir Shines in Concert
Sixth through eighth grade choir students took the stage last night at Cascade Middle School, delivering a wonderful performance for family, friends, and the school community. The evening showcased their dedication and musical growth, as they performed a variety of songs with enthusiasm and skill.
The concert was a testament to the students’ hard work and the guidance of their choir director, Olivia Lenoue. Their voices filled the cafeteria at CMS, creating a memorable experience for all in attendance.

Transportation Department Hosts First-Ever Chili Cook-Off
Last week, the Transportation Department turned up the heat with its first-ever Chili & Cornbread Cook-Off, bringing friendly competition and plenty of flavor to the team.
After a fierce but tasty showdown, Karolina Francis was crowned Chili Champion, earning the coveted "Golden Spoon" and securing her name on the prestigious "Bowl of Fire" trophy. On the cornbread side, Tammi Holman claimed the title of Cornbread Champion, impressing judges with her baking skills.
To ensure the judges survived the spicy challenge, Tums and Pepto Bismol tablets were available upon request. The event was a fun and lighthearted way to bring the team together, and with the success of this year’s cook-off, the competition is sure to become a new tradition!
