Corsicana ISD Bond 2025 Ag Building Groundbreaking
Corsicana ISD breaks ground on first of "Big 4" projects
Just days before the general election and 360 days since voters in Corsicana passed a $205 million dollar bond for new Corsicana ISD construction and renovation projects, the first official groundbreaking started with a bang. Even drops of rain on the new construction site could not dampen spirits.
The new state-of-the-art Corsicana High School Agricultural Facility officially kicked off construction Friday morning as Corsicana ISD administration, board of trustees, members of the ag program, and other district personnel were on hand. They were joined by crews from WRA Architects, BWC Education, and Friends Consulting, all firms that have contributed to making this day a reality.
“Last November, the voters of Corsicana came together and approved a $205 million investment in our students,” Superintendent Stephanie Howell said. “Today, we start turning that promise into something real, and it is fitting that we start right here, in the dirt.”

District Highlights
Corsicana ISD teacher launches Bilingual Storytime at local library
Recognizing a shortage of library programs tailored for Spanish-speaking families, a Corsicana ISD dual-language educator is stepping up to connect emergent bilingual children with a love for reading. Brenda Sosa, a teacher at Sam Houston Dual Language Elementary School, recently partnered with the Corsicana Public Library to launch a new monthly bilingual storytime this fall. Spearheaded by Sosa and a coalition of fellow Corsicana ISD educators including Diana Rivero Salazar, Jacqueline Cano, Jenniffer Sosa, Raquel Rivera, Carolina Rivera, Cindee Robles, and Amelia Solis, the grassroots initiative aims to encourage reading at home, break down language barriers, and connect families to civic resources. Corsicana ISD celebrates first pipeline graduate Cloud
Brandishing pom-poms, "Proud of Cloud" signs, and face cutouts, Corsicana ISD staff packed the Oct. 19 school board meeting to celebrate Navarro Elementary paraprofessional Janice Cloud as the district’s first Tiger Teacher Pipeline graduate. Cloud, a special education life-skills paraprofessional, has served the district for 29 years, the past 16 at Navarro Elementary. "I feel deeply honored that my colleagues, principals, and district leaders took the time to recognize and celebrate this milestone with me," Cloud said. "Their support made me feel valued and inspired." Cloud will serve as an intern teacher this school year, earning a full teacher salary while completing her state certification exams. Stewart Toyota, Corsicana High School partner to train auto techs
Corsicana High School automotive students can now earn official Toyota and Lexus technician credentials before graduation under a program Stewart Toyota representatives presented to the school Thursday. Through Toyota’s Technician Education College Support program, known as TECS, juniors and seniors complete online learning modules alongside their regular coursework. Graduates of the program earn Toyota Maintenance Certified or Lexus Foundations Certified status, credentials recognized at Toyota and Lexus dealerships nationwide. “Automotive repair has become a highly specialized field with high demand,” said Brent Stewart, general manager of Stewart Toyota. “If we can identify students early who have an interest and skill set, we can help them build long, stable careers right here in their hometown.” Read more about the partnership here!

Success Golf a hit!
Corsicana ISD special education students participated in 'Success Golf' on Wednesday at the Corsicana High School Gym. Short for Students Undertaking Challenging Courses Ensuring Sportsmanship and Skill, the adaptive sports program is delivered through Houston-based nonprofit Be An Angel to promote physical activity, cognitive growth, and self-confidence. “We set up Success Golf in the fall so we have activities for our special education students all year round,” said Jennifer Ellis, CISD Behavior Intervention Specialist. Students played on an adaptive nine-hole mini-golf course using specialized equipment. “Any child can use a golf club. They may just have to adapt to the way they are standing, walking, or in a wheelchair,” said Brandee Guyton, DFW Program Manager for Be An Angel.
