iReady Scores Coming Home
Your student will be bringing home their Reading and Math iReady Diagnostic in their backpacks on Monday, September 22nd. If you have questions about the report, please feel free to reach out to either their teacher or Mrs. Hummel.
HERE is a link to a document to help you better understand what you will see on their diagnostic report. One thing that is important to understand is that students are tested against the standards they are expected to know by the end of the school year. Therefore, if your child scores as one grade level below their current grade level at this time, that is okay! That means that they have mastered the standards from their previous grade but have not yet mastered the standards for their current grade, which makes sense since we have only been in school for a few weeks.
Save the Date: Student Led Conferences
Mark your calendars, our annual Student Led Conferences will be held on Tuesday, October 14th, from 2:45 - 7:45 PM. You will receive an email from your student's SLC facilitator around September 24th with a link to sign up for a 15-minute conference time slot.
For those of you new to Albright, Student Led Conferences are our form of Parent Teacher Conferences. Students work to prepare a presentation to show their parents the work they're doing and also reflect on their strengths and areas for growth, then, on the day of conferences, students and parents join a teacher and go through the presentation together.
New Main Entrance for Parents and Late Arrivals
Albright Middle School has a new main entrance! Please note that Door One on the north side of Villa Ave is no longer in use for parent drop-offs or late student arrivals. All parents and students arriving after the start of the school day should now use the new main entrance located on the south side of Villa Ave, as shown in the photo. This update helps improve security and streamline our entry procedures. Thank you for your cooperation!
Share Your Sports Photos!
Did you snap any great pictures at last week’s cross country meet? Or have photos from any of this year’s sports events? We’d love to see them! Please email any sports pictures to Mrs. Kasher at dkasher@saltcreek48.org. Your photos may be featured in upcoming school publications or the yearbook. Thanks for helping us capture these memorable moments!
Sports & Clubs
After School Clubs Permission Slips
We are very excited to begin our after-school clubs. In an attempt to streamline our processes, we have created one permission slip for all after-school clubs. If your child will be interested in participating in an after-school club, please complete the form linked below. Note: You are not signing your child up by completing the permission slip. Students will talk to the club sponsors to sign up. This just lets the school know your child has permission to stay for the clubs you have selected.
Baking Club: Due to popular demand, Baking Club needs to be specifically signed up for. If your child would like to participate in Baking Club, please complete THIS INTEREST FORM to sign up for the club and tell us which session would work best for your student/family.
Attending Home Games
Due to our ongoing construction, we are hosting our volleyball and basketball "home" games off-site this year at St. Alexander's Parish. Soccer games will still be hosted at Albright.
The church has been kind enough to rent out its gymnasium space so that we could have a place to call home while our new gymnasium is being built. Please be aware that the seating is more limited at this location. There is one small bank of bleachers, and we will be putting out folding chairs, but it's still not very large.
For athletes who will be competing at St. A's, we have arranged for bus transportation to the facility after school. Transportation home from games and practices will be the responsibility of the student athlete and their family. Coaches will send home more detailed information on transportation and expectations.
Students planning to attend the game as spectators will need to find their own transportation to and from the game and must remain in the gym at all times. There will be a staff member from AMS present to supervise students who wish to come cheer on their classmates. If a student spectator chooses to leave the gym, then they must leave the church campus and will not be allowed re-entry.
St. Alexander's Parish is located at 300 S. Cornell Ave, Villa Park.
SPORTS PHYSICALS
Sports physicals are required for any students who would like to participate in school-sponsored sport activities. They are only good for one calendar year. If you are not sure if you child needs a new one please reach out to the school nurse Mrs. Simmons.
Football Games at Willowbrook High School
We love when our students are involved with WBHS an cheer on the team, however middle school students do need adult supervision while attending games at WBHS. Please see the following note from Dr. Krause, Principal of Willowbrook High School:
"Greetings from Willowbrook High School! We are excited to kick off our 2025 flag and tackle football season. As a reminder, for our home games, any student who is not in high school needs to be accompanied by their parent/guardian. When students who are not yet in high school arrive at the gate (we ask for student IDs), our deans will ask if a parent/guardian is present with them. If they are not, the student will not be allowed to enter. Thanks in advance for understanding these safety and security measures and we look forward to seeing you at our games this season."
