The Monthly Howl! : September Edition!
We’re excited to bring you the second edition of The Monthly Howl Newsletter!
In this issue, you’ll find key updates to keep you connected, including important dates like Open House (a chance for families to meet teachers, learn about classroom expectations, and explore our school) and our early release days. We’re also sharing the September breakfast and lunch calendars and district-wide flyers so you don’t miss any events or opportunities.

Dear WSTA Families,
It has been such a joy to see our hallways come alive again with energy, laughter, and learning. A special welcome to our 5th graders—you are officially part of the Wolfpack, and we’re so proud to have you here! To our returning students and families, thank you for bringing your spirit and enthusiasm back with you.
As we move through September, let’s continue building a school community rooted in pride, unity, and growth. Together, we’ll make this year one filled with meaningful connections and memorable moments.

Reminder: Tardy Policy Begins September 8, 2025
Dear WSTA Families,
As we begin the school year, we want to remind everyone of the importance of being on time and ready for instruction each morning. Arriving on time helps students start the day successfully, reduces classroom interruptions, and sets a positive tone for learning.
Beginning Monday, September 8th, 2025, our school tardy policy will go into effect:
Tardy slips will be issued at 8:15 a.m.
🟢 - Green Slip: 15-minute detention
🟡 - Yellow Slip: 30-minute detention
🔴 - Red Slip: 45-minute detention
If your child will be late and the tardy needs to be excused, please call the school’s main office at 617-466-5240.
We encourage all students to arrive a few minutes early to allow time to settle in before instruction begins. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure every student has the best possible start to their school day.

iReady Testing Dates
Dear WSTA Families,
Our students in grades 5–8 will be taking their iReady assessments on the following dates:

ELA iReady: Wednesday, September 10

Math iReady: Wednesday, September 17
What is iReady?
iReady is an online program that helps us assess students’ skills in reading and math. The results guide teachers in understanding where each student is and how to best support their learning.
✅ Please make sure your student charges their Chromebook the night before and brings it to school on testing days.

Yondr Pouches at WSTA!
As a reminder, WSTA has launched the Yondr pouch system this year to support a focused and distraction-free learning space. Students secure their phones in a locked pouch at the start of the day and unlock them again at dismissal.
This shift helps students stay present, participate fully, and build stronger connections in class. We’re already looking forward to the positive impact this will continue to have on our school community.
Uniform Expectations
WSTA is a uniform school, and ALL students are expected to come to school in uniform every day. Our uniform helps promote school pride, unity, and a focus on learning.
✅ Tops: Plain or WSTA logo polos/t-shirts in Navy Blue, Light Blue, Maroon, or White
✅ Bottoms: Navy blue, Gray or Black pants, sweatpants, skirts, shorts, or jeans (no rips or holes)
✅ Outerwear: Sweaters, sweatshirts, or jackets in navy blue, light blue, maroon, white or black (plain or with WSTA logo)
🚫 Pajama pants, standalone leggings, crop tops, ripped jeans, and visible undergarments are not permitted. Hats/hoods may not be worn indoors unless for religious/cultural reasons.

School Site Council - We need you!
We are looking for interested families to join our School Site Council—a group of staff, families, and community members who work together to support school improvement and student success.
As a member, you’ll have the opportunity to:
✔️ Give input on school goals and priorities
✔️ Review and discuss school policies and programs
✔️ Represent the voices of WSTA families
No prior experience is needed—just a passion for supporting our school community!
