Leveled Lockdowns Leveled Lockdowns

Over the next three months we will be conducting Leveled Lockdown drills so staff and students can practice appropriate responses. Exact dates and times will not be shared so staff can practice realistic, in‑the‑moment responses; each drill will last only a few minutes. I will announce to students that it is a "drill".

This Week:

  • Level 1 — Secure in Building: No immediate danger. Exterior doors locked; activities may continue with limited hallway movement.

What we expect from students:

  • Remain calm, follow adult directions, and stay with or return to the nearest staff member if not with their class (e.g., in hallways or restrooms). Staff will lead and account for students.

In a real emergency, families will be contacted and updated via our usual communication channels (email and phone). If you have questions or concerns, please contact the school office.

Guidelines for When to Keep your Child Home From School

Many parents find themselves struggling with sick children and when to send them back to school. You do not want your children to miss school, but at the same time, you do not want them returning if they are too sick or could infect others. The following guidelines are based upon the Ohio Department of Health’s guidelines and recommendations.

You should keep your children home if they are experiencing:

  • Fever over 100° F

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Frequent cough

  • Eggs(nits) or head lice-until cleared by nursing staff(see lice policy)

  • Persistent pain (ear, stomach etc.)

  • Widespread rash

  • Signs of conjunctivitis such as red, crusty or swollen eyes

CONDITION: WHEN TO RETURN TO SCHOOL:

  • Conjunctivitis 24 hours after treatment starts
  • Cough cough is no longer persistent
  • Diarrhea 24 hours after last episode of diarrhea
  • Fever 24 hours after fever-free (without medication)
  • Head Lice hair is treated and nit-free
  • Impetigo 24 hours after treatment starts (sores covered)
  • Ring Worm 24 hours after treatment starts (sores covered)
  • Strep Throat 24 hours after treatment starts and fever-free
  • Vomiting 24 hours after last episode of vomiting

Remember:

If your child’s absence requires a doctor’s visit, please turn in the medical excuse to your child’s school upon returning.

Cold Weather Reminder Cold Weather Reminder

We plan for all students to go outdoors for recess unless one of the specific medical or safety conditions below applies. Because of limited staffing, we cannot honor general requests for a child to remain indoors without a doctor’s note. If your child needs indoor accommodations for medical reasons, please provide documentation from a healthcare professional.
