Now that it is known how the first semester will conclude and the spring semester will begin, it is important to refocus on the norms established at the start of this school year.

Remember: this is not the same school year, and you should not expect to conduct your class in the same manner. OCSA Administration fully supports teachers changing, tweaking, and letting things go!

Deadlines/Due Date Norms

• Conduct instruction with the goal for student work to be completed by the end of the scheduled class time
• Utilize deadline of Friday at 4:15 PM for students to submit outstanding student work not completed within the scheduled class time

Google Classroom and Synchronous Instruction Norms

• Be present and live for each class at the scheduled start time

• Deliver minimum 15 minutes of high quality live instruction in each class

• Make a good faith effort to limit recorded videos or lectures (where teachers communicate one-way or conduct a lesson without student interaction) to 15-20 minutes in length, understanding that highly specialized classes may require additional time spent on learning material

Just a reminder that progress report grades are due in Aeries by 11:59pm on Tuesday, November 3rd.

Later today, a recorded video explaining the learning academies will be sent to all families. Staff will receive the video a short time before it is sent to the rest of OCSA. Please be sure to view the linked video when it is released. We will discuss and answer questions about the content in the video at Friday’s Staff Meeting.

Last Friday, Jena sent out the Virtual Academy form for those staff who are interested in it for the Spring Semester. Please note that your responses to the questions contained within the form may require additional documentation to be gathered and submitted.

You must submit interested by Friday, November 6 at 4:00 PM. Although you are not required to submit medical documentation when you indicate your interest, it may be required soon after. Don't wait to turn these things in!

1. view the Spring 2021 Instructional Plan video
2. Read Chapter 2 from Not Light, But Fire. Every teacher should be prepared to share a quote from Chapter 2 and explain why you selected it.
