WELCOME TO WEEK 2, SHARK FAMILIES!

Can you believe we’re already in our second week of school?! Our campus is settling into routines, classrooms are buzzing with learning, and our Schmalz family is finding its rhythm. We’re off to a wonderful start!

We know there is A LOT to keep up with throughout the school year, so we’re sharing our 2026–2027 Important Dates Calendar to help make life just a little easier for our Schmalz families! We’ve gathered many of our important campus dates, holidays, school breaks, picture days, field days, performances, and special events all in one place—because one less thing to remember is always a good thing!

Please remember that some dates may change, and additional events will be communicated as details are finalized. We’ll continue to keep you updated throughout the year!

Thank you for your continued support, partnership, and trust. We are so grateful for our amazing Schmalz families and all you do to support our students and our school community.

¿Pueden creer que ya estamos en nuestra segunda semana de clases? Todos se están adaptando a las rutinas, los salones están llenos de aprendizaje y nuestra familia Schmalz está encontrando su ritmo. ¡Hemos tenido un comienzo maravilloso!

Sabemos que hay MUCHO que mantener en mente durante el año escolar, por eso compartimos nuestro Calendario de Fechas Importantes 2026–2027 para ayudar a que la vida sea un poquito más fácil para nuestras familias Schmalz. Our ESL/Bilingual Department is dedicated to supporting students as they develop English language skills while honoring and celebrating their home languages and cultures. We work closely with families to ensure every multilingual learner receives the academic, linguistic, and emotional support they need to succeed. Our goal is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all students can thrive.

The Schmalz Clinic is here to help keep our Sharks healthy, safe, and ready to learn. If your child requires medication at school, has a medical condition, or you have questions about immunizations or other health requirements, please visit our Clinic webpage for important information and required forms.

Katy ISD requires all volunteers serving on or off-campus during or after the instructional day to register with the district through its Raptor security system.

Katy ISD’s Raptor safety protocol will require volunteers to register (or re-register) annually, thus creating a new volunteer profile each year.

The District's Raptor Volunteer Initiative provides an additional layer of protection for our Katy ISD students, staff, volunteers, and visitors, prioritizing the safety and security of our entire Katy ISD family.

Once registered and approved, individual volunteers can submit and track hours via their volunteer profile for every Katy ISD campus at which they volunteer. The system also provides quick and easy submission of individual off-campus volunteer hours.

Schmalz Elementary is proud to partner with the YMCA to offer before and after school child care on our campus.

The YMCA provides a safe, engaging environment where students can participate in homework time, enrichment activities, games, and more before and after the school day.

For program information, availability, registration, and fees, please visit the YMCA website or contact the YMCA directly.
