Spring Break Reading Tips for AASA Success πΈπ
Spring Break is a wonderful time to relax and rechargeβbut itβs also a great opportunity to keep reading skills strong as we prepare for AASA state testing. Here are some simple, stress-free ways to help your child stay ready:
π Read every day β Even 15β20 minutes helps build stamina and comprehension.
ποΈ Read anywhere β On the couch, outside, or before bedβcomfort counts!
β Ask questions after reading β Who? What happened? Why? What evidence supports the answer?
π Practice text evidence β Encourage your child to go back to the text to find answers.
π§ Talk about the story β Discuss characters, main ideas, and lessons learned.
π Write about reading β Have your child write or tell a short summary or opinion.
π Read different types of texts β Stories, nonfiction, directions, menus, or articles.
π Keep it positive and fun β Praise effort, not just correct answers.
π€ Balance learning and rest β A relaxed brain learns best!
π Build confidence β Remind your child they are capable and prepared.
Thank you for supporting your childβs learningβeven during the break! Your encouragement makes a big difference as we head into AASA testing season. πππ
