Message from Mr. Karmazin, Principal Message from Mr. Karmazin, Principal

Week of September 23rd, 2024

Dear Bryan Middle Families,

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 17 from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM. You are welcome to stop by at any time between those hours to meet with your child’s teachers, learn about their progress, and collaborate on strategies for continued growth and success.

Our conferences are student-led, meaning your child will take an active role in discussing their learning, setting goals, and reflecting on their academic journey. Students will present their work, share accomplishments, and talk about areas they are working to improve. This approach encourages accountability and builds self-confidence in students as they communicate about their learning experiences.

Please mark your calendars for the following important dates:

  • No School:

    • October 4
    • October 17 & 18
    • November 5
    • The week of November 25 (Thanksgiving Break)
  • Two-Hour Late Starts:

Sincerely,
Mr. Karmazin

Attention All Music Parents! Attention All Music Parents!

If your student is in Band, Orchestra, or Choir - we are asking that you purchase a shirt to wear for the concerts. Please ask your student about the order form, if they haven't already shown it to you. We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter - thank you for supporting your students - and our music program!!! If $12 is a hardship for your family, just email your child's teacher so that we can make sure he/she is taken care of. Likewise, on the order form there is a section where if you are able or want to donate an extra $12 for a shirt for a student in need, we would greatly appreciate your help! We have already received a lot of assistance with making sure our students are all taken care of - and we are so grateful.

From the Counselors From the Counselors

Here are 5 ways to support your child with their academics!

  1. Check their grades in Infinite Campus at least once a week and remember to give positive feedback when your child is doing well and ask them about missing assignments or low grades. https://campus.ops.org/campus/portal/parents/ops.jsp

  2. Look over planners which are used to assist each student in setting personal goals, record achievement, managing time, recording class assignments, check-off completed assignments.

  3. Encourage your child to do at least 30 Minutes of Success Maker lessons a week in math or their Reading Inventory.

  4. Encourage your students to do some of the following to help keep up with deadlines. We understand that sometimes we can’t make it to school, so keeping in contact with their teacher about where they can access their missing work will help them stay on track!

  5. Does your child need a tutor? Contact us to inquire about tutoring after school in the library! Offered Tuesdays-Thursday until 5pm, contact Mrs Raszler for more information, Lisa.raszler@ops.org. Or if your child would like to stay afterschool (Tuesday-Thursday) to work on homework/missing assignments, email their counselor and have them sign up for academic recovery!

Please contact a counselor if you have questions or concerns at any time!
