Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fantastic week it was celebrating Education Week last week! Our school community truly came together to highlight and celebrate the amazing learning, creativity, and sense of adventure that thrives at Cartwright Public School.
A huge congratulations to Mrs Khan, the art show committee and all our students who contributed to the Art Show, ‘Re-Imagine’. The hall was transformed into a vibrant gallery showcasing the incredible creativity and talent of our young artists, supported by their teachers. It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the display and celebrating the students' hard work.
Thank you to everyone who visited during Open Classrooms. Our students were so proud to share their learning with you. The Family BBQ was also a hit, with plenty of smiling faces and delicious BBQ sausages on rolls. It was a heartwarming reminder of the strength of our CPS community.
Yesterday's Book Character Parade was a real highlight! Our theme, ‘Book and Adventure,’ inspired some truly creative costumes. The students looked amazing, and the staff didn’t do too badly either! A big thank you to Mrs Caronna our librarian and all the parents and carers for your continued support in making this annual event so special.
Just a reminder that parent-teacher interviews for mainstream classes are taking place today. All students are to be picked up under the COLA this afternoon, as interviews will be happening in classrooms. NB. If your child’s interview is scheduled for after 3:00pm, you will be taking your child to the interview.
Finally, I wanted to relay to parent and carers that we are going to trial opening the side gate, as the back gate area is consistently too muddy to open and will most likely be closed when construction of our new preschool begins. The side gate will be opened starting from next week.
We are so proud of our students and grateful for the continued support of our school community.
Warm regards,
Elizabeth Harris
Principal

Teal
This Term, Teal has been busy at work completing the finishing touches for this year's Art exhibition, taking place during education week! Our theme was ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’, re-imagined! We used old magazines and cardboard boxes to create our leaves, caterpillars, cocoons, and butterflies using techniques like collage and papier-mâché. Our students enjoyed the process of cutting up magazine strips and gluing them onto their butterflies! Our parents loved walking through the exhibition and looking at all of the amazing artworks created by each class. Education week was amazing, and we’re so excited for the rest of the school year!
Opal
Welcome to back to Term 3! We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break during the holidays. Term 3 is full exciting learning adventures and special events.
Students are more settled and are following most of the class routines.
In English students are learning new sounds and are using the decoding skills to read and write.
Our Maths lessons are full of fun hands-on activities and the students are developing their number skills, shapes and measurements. Students are learning the language of Maths to communicate clearly, make connections with Mathematics and the world around them.
Our Science unit is about “Forces: Push and Pull” and in Geography the students we are looking at “People living In Places”.
Every Thursday, for sports the students are having fun with gymnastics and on Friday they are developing their soccer skills with some professional coaches. Lots of fun during NAIDOC Week and a fantastic Art Show.
Looking forward to the Book Parade and the Zoo. Lots of excitement in Term 3.
1/2 Blue
1/2 Blue are learning to use the school app Seesaw to build their technology skills. They are exploring how to create, upload, and share their work digitally. This helps them develop confidence with technology while expressing their learning in creative and engaging ways. Soon we will be learning to use videos and voice recordings
4/5 Purple
Welcome back to another exciting term in 4/5 Purple!
It’s only Week 4, and we’ve already had a jam-packed start to the term. So far, we've enjoyed the Athletics Carnival, NAIDOC Week, Open Classrooms, Family Picnics, and the Art Show, where students showcased their amazing creativity.
There’s still so much to look forward to, including the Colour Fun Run, our excursion to Sydney Zoo, and many more exciting events.
Key reminders for the week:
- Library – Tuesday morning
- Gymnastics – Thursday in the hall
- Gala Sports – Friday morning
Homework should be completed weekly, handed in on Friday, and collected from the tub on Monday. Daily reading at home is also strongly encouraged.
We look forward to seeing you at Parent-Teacher Interviews!
