K-5 Lunch on Halloween
We need to account for the whereabouts of all our students at all times on this day. Therefore, please fill out this google form for each child before October 21th to inform us on which option you would like to do for October 30th.
K-5 Halloween Lunch Dismissal
We will dismiss all students going home for lunch on Halloween out the back. The car line will be at the back. Walkers will also be dismissed out doors 7 and 9. Students will not be picked up at the front on Halloween.
Seasonal Supports
Thanks to generous community donations, Wheeling Township offers seasonal support programs for eligible local residents:
- Thanksgiving Meals: Food pantry recipients receive a complete Thanksgiving dinner in November, including turkey and all the traditional fixings.
- Adopt-A-Family Program: Each holiday season, donors are matched with low-income families using their wish lists to provide gifts of clothing and toys.
Financial eligibility requirements apply. To apply for assistance or become a donor, please reach out to the General Assistance Office at 847-259-7730 or email ksabbini@wheelingtownship.com.
LAST CALL for the full Lost and Found Bin
Around this time students take off their warmer gear and another student mistakes it for their gear or moves it to the lost and found bin. To avoid these incidents, please write names on everything, even on any new snow gear!
The lost and found will be out during conferences and anything NOT claimed will be donated.

GREENBRIER SCHOOL'S
HALLOWEEN PARADE AND PARTY
Thursday, October 29th, and Friday, October 30, 2026
Dear Parent(s),
Following the tradition of past years, we are planning our Halloween activities for the morning and afternoon of October 29th and the afternoon of October 30th. Student participation in the costume parade and party is voluntary, not mandatory.
We would like Halloween to be fun for all and require costumes that portray non-violent characters. Please remember that we are an early childhood through fifth grade elementary school. Costumes that may be appropriate for older children or adults may frighten younger children. We request your cooperation in selecting school-appropriate costumes that avoid violence, sharp objects, weapons, “squirting or dripping” blood, gore, etc. Please consider selecting a costume that reflects an upbeat, positive theme. We want to model positive examples of caring, respect, and responsibility. In the interest of safety, please be sure your child can walk and sit comfortably in his/her costume and see where he/she is walking (masks sometimes obstruct a child's view).
Inflatable Costumes: If your student chooses to wear an inflatable costume, and it interferes with participation during classroom parties/activities, the student will be given the choice to remove their costume or not participate in the activity.
Food will not be served during classroom celebrations. Please do not send any food items to the school for distribution to students. Our Halloween parades and classroom parties will focus on the fun of celebrating together through holiday games, crafts, and activities.
Thursday, October 29th - Early Childhood
The parades will be held at the following times. Please note that they will be canceled if there is rain or snow.
A.M. Early Childhood Classes
At 9:30 a.m., students will exit door 7, walk to the blacktop, and parade to the front doors of the school. Parents are welcome to line up on the blacktop to watch the parade. Classes will stop on the blacktop for a class photo. Following the parade, students will return to their classrooms for Halloween activities.
P.M. Early Childhood Classes
At 1:15 p.m., students will exit door 7, walk to the blacktop, and parade to the front doors of the school. Parents are welcome to line up on the blacktop to watch the parade. Classes will stop on the blacktop for a class photo. Following the parade, students will return to their classrooms for Halloween activities.
Parents who wish to watch the EC Parade:
Parents are cordially invited to watch the parade. If you wish to park, please use the street parking while obeying village signage. DO NOT PARK in the teachers’ parking lot in the back.
Friday, October 30th - Kindergarten through Fifth Grade
At 1:10 P.M., Kindergarten through fifth students will go directly to their classrooms for attendance. The parade will begin at approximately 1:20 P.M. Classes will exit door 7, walk across the blacktop to the sidewalk on Verde, walk to Roanoke, continue on Roanoke, return to door 7 and enter the building. (The students will remain on the sidewalk, not crossing any streets as we parade around the building). In case of rain or snow, the parade will be canceled.
Parents who wish to watch the parade:
Parents are cordially invited to watch the parade. On Halloween, we ask you to follow these directions for 1:10 drop-off and parade parking. When returning your students to school after lunch, please use the drop-off in the front of the school. If you wish to park, please use the street parking while obeying village signage. DO NOT PARK in the teachers’ parking lot in the back.
Children staying for lunch can change into their costumes after lunch. Please send a costume that the child can easily put on. Also, please label any bags that hold costumes to avoid confusion.
We need to account for the whereabouts of all our students at all times on this day. Therefore, please fill out this google form for each child before October 16th to inform us on which option you would like to do for October 30th.
When should my child wear his/her costume to school? (Wearing a costume is optional)
Early Childhood students should wear their costumes to school. All other students wear their costumes after lunch. For kindergarten through fifth grade, please do not apply any makeup to your child’s face before sending them to school in the morning.
When is the lunch period?
The lunch period is our regular lunch from 12:10 p.m. – 1:10 p.m.
The students in grades K-5 should return to school at 1:10 p.m. Students arriving back from lunch at 1:10 p.m. are to use the front doors of the school ONLY.
We make every attempt to maintain an appropriate learning environment during morning instruction. Your cooperation will help us make October 29th and 30th a day for both learning and celebrating. We’ll see you at the parades!
