8.17.25 Providencia Elementary School Newsletter
Dear Providencia Families,
Thank you Providencia community for participating at our Preseason Event last Tuesday and our Opening Day (First Day of School)! It was wonderful welcoming you all back!
Thank you to all parents and guardians who attended Coffee with the Principal also on the First Day of School! I appreciate everyone's participation and questions. If you missed the meeting please click here or on the image for the meeting slidedeck. Next month and every first Friday of each month, I will host an in-person Coffee with the Principal in the mornings right after our Spirit Assembly.
If you have any questions, comments, concerns, suggestions and/or ideas that you would like me to address at the next Coffee with the Principal, please click below.
Also on Opening Day I visited all the classrooms to talk to students about how our baseball theme has a lot of connections to learning. I explained to them (using the picture on the left), that each one of them are the players of the game and learning is all about practice and commitment. I also explained to them (using the picture on the right), that if there are any barriers to them not being able to play or watch the game, they let a trusted adult know. It will take the teamwork of our coaches (parents, teachers and support staff) to help them build boxes of support so they can be successful. Our goal to help your child hit many home runs this year!
Congratulations to the following students who won the PTA Home Run Challenge!
1st base: Eleanor N.
2nd base: Ruby K.
3rd base: Evan S.
Homerun: Orion D.
We have some parent engagement events this week such as our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Committee Meeting, Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Meeting and our PTA Yogurtland Fundraiser! School Supply Lists
Thank you for all the school supply donations that you brought in this week! Linked here and below are specific supply lists from your assigned teacher.
Supplies that are donated to the classroom are helpful and greatly appreciated, but not required. They become communal which means supplies are collected from all children and then distributed throughout the school year. Supplies are not individualized and we make sure all students have access to necessary materials. Thank you in advance for your kind donations!
Safe Routes to School
There are 3 ways to drop off your child in the morning and pick up your child in the afternoon:
1) Walk and Roll: If you live close by, we encourage your family to walk and roll (bike, skate, scoot) to school! Please use crosswalks. Start and end the day with physical activity and when more families walk, it reduces traffic congestion and it helps the environment!
2) Park and Walk: Park your car on the streets (except red zones) and the school district parking lot located on Pacific Avenue between our playground and the Deluxe Media building. Please DO NOT park at Warner Brothers across the street where semi-trucks frequently go in and out.
3) Car Valet: Please pull your car up ALL THE WAY UP TO THE LAST ORANGE CONE on Pacific Avenue. A staff member or volunteer will open your rear car door so your child(ren) can safely get out to the sidewalk to the entry gate. Car valet is only available in the morning. LINGERING IN YOUR CAR WHEN SAYING FAREWELL TO YOUR CHILD INCREASES TRAFFIC CONGESTION. We recommend that you park in designated areas and walk your child to the gate. Thank you for your cooperation!
