I hope that everyone is enjoying a beautiful long weekend. Remember, there is no school tomorrow, Monday, October 12th, for staff or students as the district is closed for the day.

We are entering a very busy time at school and we do our best to keep everyone informed. Please be sure to check out all the important information in the Texan Star each week as well as the newsletters sent out by your child's teachers so that you don't miss any important updates and notices.

We can't wait to welcome everyone back to school bright and early and on time on Tuesday morning to start our 2nd 9 weeks!

Congratulations to Ms Erickson's 5th Grade class for being named PTE Stuff the Pantry Champions. Their class brought in an amazing 986 points! Honorable mention goes to Mrs Broome's 4th Grade class with 743 points. Our school total was 5140 points! Way to go, PTE!

Yearbooks are on sale now and this is the LAST WEEK to get them for $28. The price will increase after October 16th so be sure to go to Josten's website and search for Prairie Trail Elementary, Flower Mound, Tx to reserve your copy today!

A team of nurses and health assistants will be coming to campus on Thursday, October 22nd to help test hearing and vision for all students in Grades 1, 3, and 5. They will also be testing hearing for kindergarten students that day. They will be testing kindergarten vision the following day on Friday, October 23rd. If your student wears glasses, please be sure they have them here at school on the day they are being screened. Please contact our nurse, Diana Carson with any concerns or to opt out. She can be reached by email at carsond@lisd.net or by calling the school at 469.713.5980 and following the prompts.

Trunk or Treat is Thursday, October 29th at Prairie Trail! This fun family event is a fall favorite for our school and community. You can help make it a success by sending in bags of candy to feed our candy monster. Interested in hosting a trunk? We would love to have you! You can sign up to host a trunk by using this link. Spots are limited so be sure to reserve your space now!

• If someone other than parent/guardian listed in Skyward is coming to have lunch with your student. You can use this convenient google form to let us know to expect a non-guardian for lunch. As family situations can frequently change, we do need this filled out each time someone comes for lunch.
• Students enjoy an occasional lunch visitor, but it is also important for them to have routine opportunities to have lunch with their friends. We ask that lunch visits are limited to once per week.

Marquette Mini Dance Camp is coming up on Saturday, October 24th!

The Marcus Boys & Girls Basketball Booster Clubs are hosting an event together to kick off the 2026-2027 Marcus basketball season and would love to have our future marauders and staff join us to celebrate the start of our season.

It’s time for Reflections! 🎨🎬📚🎶📸💃

The 2026–2027 theme is “What My Culture Means to Me,” and we want to see our Prairie Trail students get creative! Students can submit original work in one or more of six categories:

🎨 Visual Arts
📸 Photography
📚 Literature
🎬 Film Production
🎶 Music Composition
💃 Dance Choreography

📅 Entries are due Wednesday, October 14th!
