Weekly Update - Middle School South
March 2, 2026
End of 3rd Quarter
It’s hard to believe, but the 3rd Quarter comes to a close this Friday. We encourage all students to finish strong this week by completing any remaining assignments, checking grades, and putting forth their very best effort in each class. Now is a great time for families to connect with teachers if you have questions about missing work or current grades. A strong finish can make all the difference, so let’s work together to help our students end the quarter on a high note!
For your information:
FRIDAY, MARCH 6: Final day of Quarter 3
MONDAY, MARCH 9: Teacher Work Day to finalize grades (NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS!)
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11: All Q3 grades are due in Infinite Campus by 4:00PM
FRIDAY, MARCH 13: Grade Cards made available to families on Infinite Campus
Next PTO Meeting -- This Week!
At Middle School South, we are so fortunate to benefit from a strong & engaged Parent Teacher Organization.
Please consider joining us for our next meeting this Tuesday, March 3, 2025 at 6:00PM ONLINE. This meeting will be virtual only, following the link below!
We look forward to connecting with you soon!
Lost & Found -- End of 3rd Quarter
The only way we are able to reasonably manage the Lost & Found tables is by clearing them off at the end of each quarter.
Since the 3rd Quarter ends this Friday, please urge your student to locate right away any items they may have lost throughout the last 9 weeks...
ANY ITEMS NOT CLAIMED ("FOUND") BY THIS FRIDAY ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO BEING DONATED TO LOCAL CHARITIES!
Thank you for your support and understanding in helping us manage this endeavor!

7th Grade Science Circuit Showcase
We are excited to invite you to join the 7th grade science students in Mrs. Barr’s & Miss Mangette’s classes for their Circuit Showcase on March 6 in the Gahanna Middle School South Library!
Over the past several weeks, students have been exploring the fundamentals of electrical circuits. This learning has culminated in a final project where students were challenged to design and build functioning circuits. They have done an amazing job!
This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their hard work, creativity, and learning! We would love for you to stop by, ask questions, and see their projects! Please feel free to come see your student's work during their science class time OR after school on March 6.

1st Period: 9:32-10:12

ST March "Math"ness
Get ready for ST March Mathness!
Throughout the month of March, classes will compete against each other using ST Math. The goal? For classes to have the highest average number of puzzles completed!
That means every single student matters. Classes with the highest average puzzle completion will move on to the next round—so every puzzle solved helps the class.
Winning classes will be shared every Monday, with the final winner being announced the week after Spring Break!
From Ms. Lubinski, School Counselor & Power of the Pen Co-Advisor
We'd like to extend a warm congratulations to our Power of the Pen writing team and the students who qualified for regionals! The regional tournament was held this past weekend at Davis Middle School in Dublin, where students completed three rounds of writing, crafting original stories from a prompt in just 40 minutes per round. Our regionals writing team included:
7TH GRADE: Raegan Fullerton, Alice Lemler, Bela Mesfin, Harmoni Santamaria, Reagan Stygler
8TH GRADE: Vinny Parson, Daniela Sarabia, Aariana Subedi
Our team delivered an outstanding performance, earning 4th place out of 27 schools overall! The 7th grade team also secured 4th place among all 7th grade teams. Incredible accomplishments!
Individually, Reagan Fullerton placed 9th and Bela Mesfin placed 10th in 7th grade. In 8th grade, Daniela Sarabia earned 4th place. These students secured their spots at the state tournament in May!
We are SO proud of our talented writers for their creativity, dedication, and hard work. Congratulations to all!
From Ms. Kibler, MSS Choir Teacher
Please join us if you can!
From Mrs. Bentley, 6th Grade Intervention Specialist
To that end, please remind your students to CHARGE THEIR CHROMEBOOK at HOME each night. Additionally, because every student gets portions of the math section read to them through the computer, now would a good time to begin locating wired headphones!
From Mrs. Mishler, 8th Grade Science Teacher

We wish all OELPA test-takers good luck! And, if we're being extra vigilant and strict about noise in the hallways over the next few weeks, that's why!

From our School Counselors
Big thanks to the students who suggested this week's career: Author
Authors write books (fiction or nonfiction), poems, film/TV scripts, articles, and more. They use creativity, imagination, research skills, and strong writing abilities to bring their ideas to life. Many authors earn a bachelor's degree (especially those who want to pursue journalism), but college is not required. The most important skills come from lots of reading and writing practice. Salaries can vary widely depending on book sales and publishing deals, but the average salary is around $70,000.
