"Encourage one another and build each other up ..."
1 Thessalonians 5:11
It was so great to see so many of you at Back to School Night! I am super excited for this year, and am looking forward to working together! I did forget to mention that Mrs. Buur could use an Art helper on Mondays from 2:00-3:00pm. If you are looking for ways to get your parent volunteer hours in, and this time works for you, it is a really fun way to get involved! Please let me know if you would like to help Mrs. Buur.
This week, we began our reading units. We focused on a narrative nonfiction called, Camping with the President, which told us of Roosevelt's trip to Yosemite with John Muir, and his love of nature. Through this story, we looked at cause and effect, studied vocabulary words and performed skits that showed their meaning, practiced short vowel spelling by making spelling pattern posters, and looked at different types of sentences, and how to punctuate each type.
In Math, we continue to look at place value patterns with powers of ten, and we will be having a test next week on Thursday. In Social Studies, we started to look at the lives of Native American groups, and how the land influenced how they lived. We wrote a class prayer in Religion, and I am attaching that below. It's a beautiful prayer, and I was humbled by their beautiful words.
Friday Folders are going home today. Please be sure to review the work inside with your child. I hope you have a great discussion! Please sign the back, and return to school on Tuesday.
