Fall Universal Screening Window EXTENDED! Fall Universal Screening Window EXTENDED!

On August 26, 2025, MSCS extended the fall universal screening window through Friday, September 5th due to ongoing issues with technology impacting the ability to complete the fall universal screening components requiring technology.

Questions can be referred to Emily Vuoso, vuosoeb@scsk12.org.

Don't Forget!

  • Enter ALL Literacy Tasks completed on paper into iReady by 5:00 p.m. 9/5/25. If you need to verify Literacy Task entry, please pull down the report in iReady by following these steps which are slightly adjusted from previous years due to the iReady platform update. Log into iReady>Reports>Class>Literacy Task Name>Class as named in PowerSchool.
  • Enter Written Expression scores for Fall 2025 in the Written Expression PowerApp by 11:59 p.m. 9/5/25. The link is found on the home page of the On Target for Success SharePoint and accessible to the MTSS Lead only.
  • Retest students with Red Rush Flags as the student moved through the test extremely fast. It is also recommended to retest Yellow Rush Flags because the student moved fast at some points and the overall score may be lower than their actual abilities. Retests must occur by 4:00 p.m. 9/5/25.

Guidance to Keep MTSS Tier 2/3 Plan Data Clean

When creating student intervention plans please do so by creating the student plan from the class. Please do not use the create a plan feature from an ad hoc "custom" group. You can refer to the QRG titled Create an Intervention Plan located in the Resource Library under the RTI tab if you need the steps to follow.

The why behind this-During the 24-25SY we experienced a number of plans that were identified as "ghost plans" and while they did not appear in the platform visibly, they populated on reporting. The reconstitution of plans and creating plans from the class level rather than an ad hoc "custom" group keeps our MTSS Data Clean. Remember that you will update student intervention plans monthly during the 25-26SY.

Creation and Reconstitution of Plans

Please move forward with creating plans or reconstituting plans for students who are receiving Tier 2/3 instruction and intervention supports. Remember that this is a non-negotiable. We must have the plans properly set up in TNPulse in order for accurate reporting to Dr. Richmond, but more importantly for our students. Plans should include intervention notes that speak to the supports that are being provided.

Consider these examples below if you are uncertain of where to start (not limited to these only):

  • iReady Small Group Intervention Description: Use iReady Teacher Toolbox with a focus on phonics according to Diagnostic
  • iReady Computer Intervention Description: Student will spend a small amount of time (approximately 5 minutes) on the iReady personalized instruction during the intervention block for an average of 30-49minutes per week. Student will have additional opportunities outside of the intervention block to engage on the iReady personalized instruction.

Progress Monitoring Norms

Pearson aimswebPlus updated the Early Literacy Norms on August 1st (previously shared). The norms have been provided to DAIM and PCG TNPulse so there will be no impact. Please discontinue use of the chart found in the appendix of the 2023-24 DIG if you use this for your data conversations.

You can locate the norms inside of the aimswebPlus platform by following these steps or looking at the copies in the folder in the On Target for Success SharePoint.

1. Log into Pearson aimswebPlus.

2. Click Group Reports tab.

3. Change the dropdown to National Norms.

4. Select the measure.

5. Select the grade(s).

6. Change the toggle button to National Percentiles.

7. Select view/refresh.

Literacy Tasks

As previously shared, Curriculum Associates updated the iReady Platform on 8/10/25. School Admin accounts have an updated view for engaging with Literacy Tasks. Please refer to the step sheet in the iReady folder if support is needed.

IF you get an action failed message when assigning or attempting to enter scores, please take a screenshot, note the measure and class or student, and email to RTI2@scsk12.org. This will allow the vendor to have additional examples of what is occurring as they work to troubleshoot the issues.

The Love List The Love List

On Thursday I presented to Professional School Counselors during Leadership Development Week on the topic of RTI2A providing an overview of the platforms and taking a closer look at data based decision making. As I closed the session out with reflection conversations at tables, Evans Elementary Professional School Counselor shared about "The Love List" which is a list of students who have behavioral needs. By naming the list in a positive manner rather than Behavior Problems, students seeing their name on the list associate it with something positive. She further shared that during the data team meetings she would encourage teachers to take a closer look at the students and perhaps share strategies/supports that the students were responding to in the event that they could also support the academic needs. I couldn't wait to share how the positive terming of something no one wants their name on changes the perspective.
