Wk 7 AdvancedBand-DemicSeptember 28 - October 2

Week 7 Information

Just a reminder that all students should be checking regularly for assignments in Canvas and ALL student should be spending 15-20 minutes practicing/reviewing goals.

Our first week of modified block scheduling was a success!! As a reminder, students do not need to bring their instrument up the day they do not have band (Wednesday is only 5th period, Thursday is 4th and 6th period). Don't forget to bring your instrument back on Friday though!

Performances

  • While we are unable to have traditional concerts right now, Mr. Wood and Mrs. Humphreys are brainstorming ways to show off the students' hard work so far this year. Be looking for more details in the coming weeks! What we do know is that it will involve all students in advanced bands...f2f and virtual!

Staley Band Fundraiser

Our annual Staley Band Fundraiser is coming up and is kicking off October 9th, just in time for the long weekend!!!

We would love for every student to participate in some way since we are not taking band fees at this time. Participation in the annual fundraiser could be selling items or a cash donation.

We will have class competitions to see who can raise the most money and show it on a log everyday!

The fundraiser will end on October 30th.

Required Supplies

If your student still does not have the correct book for their class then it needs to be purchased ASAP. (This is Brass and Woodwinds ONLY)
  • 4th/5th Period: Traditions of Excellence Book 2 for (their instrument)
  • 6th Period: Traditions of Excellence Book 3 for (their instrument)

1 Inch Binder Needed!

  • We are also asking all students to get a 1 inch binder for their music.
  • We usually provide a black, 1 inch binder for all students through the band fees, however we are not taking band fees at this time.

Also note that we will begin our material grades next week!

Instruments Should Be Coming Home!

Please be sure your student is taking their instrument home and bringing it back every day. It can be a little tricky with our modified block schedule since students do not need to bring their instruments when they do not have band.

Every student should be using our exterior door before and after school and stay on the 'yellow brick road' that is taped off!

Note: if you are late to school (after 8:25) you will need to send your student through the main office and not the band hall. After they check in they can bring their instrument to the band hall before reporting to their first period.
