FROM THE PRINCIPAL FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Hello Families!

I hope you have been enjoying this amazing weather. I know the reality of cooler temperatures will kick in eventually but we will soak up the sun and mild temps as long as we can.

Next week is a short week with MEA and conferences. We are very excited to see you Tuesday Evening or Wednesday morning for conferences. Your students have been working so hard and we are very proud of them. We consider ourselves very fortunate to work with each of you during your child's early years. They are so important for a strong foundation in learning. The data you will see at conferences is our Fastbridge testing results. With strong instruction throughout the year and opportunities for various supports, we anticipate great gains in each student.

We are a PBIS school district. PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. It is used in schools to improve student behavior, safety, and overall school climate by proactively teaching and reinforcing positive conduct instead of relying solely on punishment. We have been helping each student understand the 5 character traits which are the foundation of our PBIS framework. We have been using this for many years at IPS and it is exciting to see how our students are showcasing respect, responsibility, compassion, self-discipline, and honesty. I truly believe these characteristics are great examples of being an outstanding citizen and we are seeing these character traits in all areas of the school.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week at conferences.

Take care,

Shane Dordal

IPS Principal

WHAT IS TITLE 1

In our Title I program, students get to learn in a supportive, small-group setting tailored to their needs. In reading, we focus on building fluency, practice decoding and blending words, and mastering "heart words." In math, we practice identifying numbers, working on number sequencing, and strengthening basic addition and subtraction skills.

Try this quick and engaging game at home! Use your finger to gently trace a letter, sight word, or number on your child's back (or have them trace on yours). Once finished, see if your partner can guess what you wrote!

FUN AT IPS FUN AT IPS

Students at Isanti Primary School have been enjoying wonderful autumn experiences both on site and out in the community! During recess, second graders made the most of the fall weather by playing together in piles of leaves. Meanwhile, kindergarteners went on an exciting field trip to the Elmstrand Pumpkin Patch, where they learned about how pumpkins grow and explored the patch outdoors.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Arrival and Dismissal

ARRIVAL: For students being dropped off at school, the car line is located at the north end of the building (in the back) from 7:15 to 7:25 AM. Once the buses arrive, the drop off line ends and parents need to park in the gravel parking lot to the northeast of the building. Our crossing guard crosses parents and students from 7:15 - 7:30 AM to enter the building. The back doors lock at 7:30 AM. After 7:30 AM, students need to be brought to the front office (Door 1) for check in.

DISMISSAL: At 2:05 PM, students who ride the bus will be dismissed and buses will leave by 2:10 PM. Parent pick up, at the north end of the building, begins immediately following the exit of the buses. We will once again be using the car line code system. Only Compass Learning and Little Sprouts daycare buses will be in the front of the building to pick up students who attend their childcare centers. Walkers who reside south of IPS are dismissed to the front. Walkers that live north of IPS are dismissed out the back.

Parent Pick-Up

This year you will see a slight change with our parent pick up form. You will see the primary spot to put your child’s 4 digit Car Line Code number and under that you will see a 2nd Step "word" Code. The reason for this change is to ensure a safe pick up process. The word code verification is another layer similar to the two-step process you experience on other platforms when logging in.
