3rd Grade Parents- Did You Know?
Alabama's Literacy Act places an important focus on making sure very child is a strong reader by the end of 3rd grade.
Did you know?
- Third-grade students must meet specific reading requirements for promotion to 4th grade.
- Your child's reading progress is monitored throughout the year so we can identify strengths and areas where extra support is needed.
- Students who need additional reading support receive targeted instruction and intervention during the school day.
- The Spring ACAP Reading assessment is one way students can demonstrate the reading skills needed for promotion.
- If your child does not demonstrate proficiency, they may not be promoted to 4th grade.
We will host two information sessions for 3rd Grade parents on Tuesday, October 13th.
Session 1: 9:15 in the Ranger Cafe at Wilson Elementary.
Session 2: 4:00 via Zoom
A flyer will go home with the Zoom information as we get closer to the date.

All clothing must be school appropriate and follow the MPS school dress-code expectations.
Parent Volunteer Form
Volunteering doesn't always mean having hours of free time or being available every day. Sometimes, it simply means giving what you can, when you can.
For those of us who work full-time, have families, and have busy schedules, volunteering may look like attending one meeting, helping at an event, making a phone call, donating supplies, sharing information, or. using our skills to support a cause.
Every contribution matters! Every helping hand makes a difference!
If you're interested in jumping in, please complete the volunteer form and we will get you plugged in!
WES Parent Concern Form
Wilson Elementary wants to ensure parent concerns are heard, addressed promptly, and resolved in a respectful, transparent, and consistent manner. In order to accomplish this objective, we have created a digital WES Parent Concern Form. Please ensure you follow the steps below when submitting a concern.
- Step 1: Classroom/Staff Level Resolution - Parents are encouraged to first bring concerns directly to the teacher/staff member involved. Most concerns can be solved at this level.
- Step 2: Escalation to Administration- If concerns are unresolved, the parent may bring the concern to school administration. Utilize the WES Parent Concern Form to describe the issue, prior attempts to resolve it, and desired outcome. Administration will follow-up with parent and provide a summary of the resolution.
Our goal is to ensure all voices are heard and concerns are addressed in a timely manner! Please remember most concerns can be resolved by reaching out to the teacher! The QR code can be used to access the parent concern form.
