SOESC CONNECTION
September 2025
Hello Team, and Happy Fall! 🍁
Autumn reminds us that growth comes in cycles, and every season brings its own opportunities to shine.
This fall, let’s focus on a few things to carry with us:
🍂 Celebrate Small Wins – Just like the harvest, the results of our work don’t come all at once. Every student smile, every breakthrough, and every connection made is worth celebrating.
🍎 Stay Connected – Fall is about gathering—whether it’s around a campfire, a football game, or a family table. Let’s keep building connections with one another and with the schools, families, and communities we serve.
🌟 Keep the Spark – The darker evenings remind us to bring our own light. Your passion, creativity, and care brighten the lives of those around you—never underestimate the power of your spark.
Here’s to a fall filled with inspiration, teamwork, and plenty of pumpkin-flavored everything. Let’s make this season one to remember!

From Prompt to Publish: AI for Effective Content Creation
Author: Jackalyn Beck and Taylor Kight, Meridian Technology Center (Okla.)
Let’s face it: ⏰ There are never enough hours in the day to get everything done. From responding to emails to drafting social posts, school communicators are constantly juggling. That’s where thoughtful use of artificial intelligence 🤖 comes in.
When used well, AI can take on time-consuming first drafts and formatting, giving communicators more room to focus on strategy, relationships, and community context.
Using AI effectively doesn’t have to be complicated. The process can be broken down into four simple steps:
Choose the right tool, give it a clear prompt, start with a first draft, and edit with care.
Choose the Right Tool
There are so many AI tools to choose from that it is hard to pick. Asking yourself a few questions before you get started will help you get off on the right foot:
-
What will you use AI for?
-
What resources do you have?
-
Do you need collaboration features?
-
What kind of data security do you need?
-
Why do you want to use AI?

Give a Clear Prompt
You’ve probably heard the words “prompt engineering” and maybe felt a little overwhelmed. But, at the end of the day, prompting is simply the art of asking better questions.
One simple way to look at it is to include three things in every prompt:
-
Task – What do you want it to do?
-
Context – What does it need to do the task?
-
Expectations – How do you want it to do the task?
Including at least a little bit of each will help your AI turn out better results. When in doubt, add:
"Please ask me three questions before you get started to refine your results."
Start With a First Draft
Think of AI as your fast-writing partner. Ask it for a first draft, then refine.
You don’t have to accept the draft as-is. Use it as a springboard by pulling what works, revising what doesn’t, and shaping it to your district’s voice.
You can even feed polished drafts back into AI. Over time, this helps the tool learn your style, making future outputs closer to what you need.
Edit With Care
AI can accelerate the process, but it can’t replace human judgment. Ethical, accurate communication still depends on you.
-
Check the facts – Never assume AI-generated content is correct.
-
Protect privacy – Don’t upload student data or sensitive information.
-
Consider usage rights – Be cautious with AI-generated images for public materials unless rights are clear.
-
Avoid bias – Make sure wording, examples, and images reflect your full community.
Okay, Now What?
By automating tedious tasks, you can focus on the work that matters: building trust, telling authentic stories, and creating connections that strengthen communities.
If you’ve been hesitant to try AI, start small. Use it to brainstorm headlines, outline an article, or clean up formatting. Just get started — you won’t break it! 💪
