Elementary Students Compete in MLB STEM Math League
On Tuesday, elementary students from across the district participated in an MLB Players STEM League tournament! This hands-on program, created by Learn Fresh, turns math into an interactive game using real-life statistics from major league baseball players. Created in partnership with the MLB Players Trust, the league brings learning to life through a baseball-themed board game and fun activities. It's another example of the creative, hands-on ways our district makes learning exciting! Click HERE for pictures of the event.

POW Chair of Honor at Brunswick Auto Mart Stadium Rededicated
One seat at Brunswick Auto Mart Stadium has never been sold to anyone. After eight Ohio winters, it is being replaced.
Hussey Seating Company has donated a new POW/MIA Chair of Honor to Brunswick City School District, replacing the original seat that has deteriorated after eight years of outdoor exposure. BCSD rededicated the seat at the varsity football game on Friday evening.
A Chair of Honor is a permanently empty seat — never sold, never occupied — held for American service members taken prisoner of war or still missing in action. More than 81,000 Americans remain unaccounted for from World War II, the Korean War, the Cold War, the Vietnam War, and the Gulf Wars, according to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency.
The chair was originally installed in Fall of 2018 through the efforts of local donations, support of the district, VFW Post 9520 and American Legion Post 234. Hussey Seating, a family-owned manufacturer founded in 1835, donates Chairs of Honor to venues nationwide.
Next Week is School Bus Safety Week
Next week is National School Bus Safety Week. Please take a moment to review Ohio’s most important safety laws to help keep our students safe.
🛑 Stop for school buses! When a school bus stops and its red lights are flashing, you must stop at least 10 feet away — whether you’re behind the bus or coming toward it — on any road with fewer than four lanes.
🤔 Know the lane rules! Ohio’s bus‑stopping rules change based on the road: All traffic in both directions must stop on two- or three-lane roads. Only traffic behind the bus on four or more lanes must stop while oncoming traffic may proceed cautiously. If there’s a median, grass strip, or barrier, only vehicles traveling in the same direction as the bus must stop.
👀 Watch for children! Children may cross unexpectedly near bus stops, neighborhoods, and apartment complexes. Slow down, stay alert, and be ready to stop.
🚸 Yield to pedestrians! Pedestrians in crosswalks always have the right‑of‑way. Near schools and bus stops, be extra cautious—even when pedestrians cross outside marked areas.
❌ Never pass a stopped bus! Passing a stopped school bus with flashing red lights is illegal and dangerous. Violations can lead to fines, points on your license, and possible suspension.
Help us keep our students safe as they head back to school! Thank you for driving with care and supporting our Brunswick community. Click this LINK for more information.
