Principal's Message From Dr. Otway
Dear College Park Families,
Have you scheduled your parent-teacher conference yet? This is a valuable time to talk with your child’s teacher about how your child is being challenged and supported in the classroom.
During your conference, please be sure to ask:
-
What is my child’s Lexile level (iReady Reading level)?
-
How can I support my child at home with reading and math practice?
-
What strategies is the school using to support their growth?
Our shared goal is for every child’s progress to be clear and measurable on the December iReady Reading and Math assessments. Together, we can ensure growth is happening both at school and at home.
Thank you for your continued partnership in helping every child succeed!
With gratitude,
Dr. Maisha N. Otway
Principal, College Park Elementary School

Popcorn Wars Challenge
We are excited to launch our to raise funds for our school! These fundraisers make a HUGE difference, covering the “extras” that our school budget does not, such as food for events, PBIS incentives, Field Day bubbles, goodbye/end-of-year snacks, and other student celebrations. Last year, your support made all of these possible for our students and staff.
👉 If every parent sells to just three people, we will meet our goal! Some families will be able to do the most, and some will simply do the best they can—but what matters most is that everyone supports the effort. Together, we can make this fundraiser a success.
Here’s how you can help:
-
Buy or Donate – Purchase a set of 3 popcorn flavors or make a donation of the same value.
-
Share & Support – Spread the word with family and friends, and share the link on social media.
-
Cheer On Your Child’s House! – Help your child’s House earn points and celebrate their teamwork.
This is a fun way for our students to be involved, and every sale directly supports making our school environment even stronger. Get ready—because after Popcorn Wars this fall, we’ll roll right into Penny Wars in the spring!
Thank you for always leading with excellence and supporting our Tigers. 🐯💛

💡Spotlight on STEM
🎉 STEM Lab Ribbon Cutting
We had an incredible day celebrating the grand opening of our newly redesigned STEM Lab! Our student emcees did an amazing job leading the event, and our House Leaders proudly unveiled the space featuring new STEM tables, a ZSpace station, and hands-on learning areas built for innovation.
A special thank-you to Toyota, the Fulton Education Foundation, and Kennesaw State University for helping make this dream a reality. We’re also grateful to Board Members Kimberly Dove and Ms. Gregory for showing their support, along with all the leaders who made this possible.
Mobile STEM Bus
Do you know the difference between a permanent magnet and an electromagnet? Our scholars do! A permanent magnet is always “on,” but an electromagnet can be turned on and off with electricity. The Fulton County Mobile STEM Bus rolled onto our campus Wednesday, giving our scholars a hands-on experience with magnets, electricity, and other exciting STEM activities.
🚣 Paddle for Tomorrow
Check out these photos of our students making waves—paddling with purpose, supporting each other, and having a blast on and off the water! 💦 We are grateful for our Paddle for Tomorrow partnership, which made this adventure possible
