Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
It seems the fall weather has finally arrived and BHS students haven’t all adjusted to the cooler weather. Our building can be quite chilly in areas, so encourage your students to dress in layers, wear hoodies, and make sure they are prepared for temperature fluctuations.
We hope you had a chance to connect with our teachers during Parent Teacher Conferences. If not, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns about your student’s performance. Catching issues early in the second quarter will help support your students as we move throughout the next few months! Your teachers appreciate your collaboration, so reach out!
Be sure to check out the fun-filled final week of October by reviewing the Upcoming Important Dates Section. Our Hope Squad will be hosting Spirit Week, and our High School PTO is hosting our Staff Door Decorating Contests.
Also, picture retake day for ALL BHS students who either missed their picture or wants a retake is on Wednesday, October 29th. All off-campus students are encouraged to come early, and on-campus students will be called to the cafeteria throughout the morning.
We hope you have a fantastic weekend.
In service to our Bulldogs.

Hi, Bulldog Families.
As we get deeper into the school year and absence hours start to add up, some students become chronically absent and/or habitually truant. When a student has missed 65 hours in the school year, we are required to send a letter notifying the parent/guardian of their student's chronic absenteeism.
Whether the hours missed are excused or are for medical reasons no longer matters in the eyes of the new Ohio laws regarding student attendance. Hours missed are hours missed.
We are also required to send a habitually truant letter if a student has missed 72 hours unexcused. These are hours that we have not received a parent phone call or any documentation as to why the student was absent.
The letters will be signed by Mrs. Conner. If you receive a letter and have any questions, please direct those questions to me.
Have a great weekend.

Hello Families,
Middle school night at last Friday’s football game was a success. The MS teams were recognized and the varsity brought home the win vs the New Richmond Lions. Now on to senior night this Friday vs. the Clinton Massie Falcons. Go Dawgs!
I think we’ve finally started to see the fall weather kick in as daylight shortens. Again, please make sure our student drivers are arriving on time and safe.
Good luck to all of the teams competing this weekend in their respective tournaments.
Thank you, and have a nice weekend.
Joe Moorehead, Dean of Students

The FAFSA Application opened October 1!!!!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2026-27 academic year is up and running! Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are eligible for student loans! We will continue to share information and helpful resources with you and your family as we receive it!
The Ohio Department of Higher Education would like to share that the 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available for all families to complete. Families who want to start filling out the FAFSA now can start the process at studentaid.gov.
For additional assistance with FAFSA completion, please visit itsforyou.org, and look under the “Looking for FAFSA Help?” section for more information
