This Week is Staff Appreciation Week!

It takes teachers AND all of our support staff to be sure students have what they need to be successful at school. So, at Osgood, we take the week to celebrate our whole staff! I encourage you to ask your children about adults at school they'd like to celebrate, including ESPs, custodians, service providers, etc.

PSO Room Parents have already reached out about any activities for your child's class. Additionally, PSO is providing another wonderful luncheon. Let's show our school employees how loved they are!

Mrs. Rigby is the Osgood Spotlight at this week's School Committee Meeting!

If you join us for the School Committee meeting on Wednesday night at 6:00pm, you will be treated to a short demonstration of Heggerty and Fundations lessons by Mrs. Rigby and some of her kindergarteners! It will be a fun glimpse into some of the literacy programing at The Osgood!

Second Grade Move-up Activities

In addition to a Move-up Day Picnic on Snapper Sneaker Day, 2nd graders and their caregivers have many opportunities to learn about the transition to Deer Hill. (Snapper Sneaker Day is 2 June and 2nd grade will participate at 10:00-11:00am. Then, we will host the move up day family picnic 11:00-11:45. More information to follow.) Below is information about additional transition activities:

Wednesday 5/28, 2:30-3:00: Deer Hill staff come to Osgood for a quick introduction to grade 2 students in their classroom

Friday 5/30, 1:45-2:30: Grade 2 students visit Deer Hill. They'll begin in the gym and then will take a tour of Deer Hill with a tour guide for each class. They'll end on the playground and walk back.

Tuesday 6/3, 6:00-7:00: A parent and caregiver (no children) informational night in the Deer Hill library (flyer above, please RSVP). This is the first time this has been in person since before COVID and will include a tour of the school!

Purposeful Play & Responsible Risk Taking: May Challenge

Keeping up with our Anxious Generation purposeful play and responsible risk taking challenges, Mrs. Shannon invites you to join in on our May activities. This month, our challenges are:

Purposeful Play Challenge

Let's get creative this month! May is here and so are the flowers and planting season. Plant a garden together. Build the plan, head to the store together to pick out what you're going to plant, get messy in the dirt as you dig, and then watch as what you did together grows. Celebrate your success. Bonus points if you plant a new fruit or vegetable that your child tries as a new food once it's planted!

Responsible Risk Taking Challenge

This month let your child plan a solo adventure within safe boundaries according to their age. Let your child walk to a neighbor’s house, deliver a letter to the mailbox by themselves, ride their bike to somewhere of their choice, or stay home alone. Independence builds confidence!

Hugo came by to take a look at Osgood. Thank you for the visit, Mrs. Sullivan! Hugo came by to take a look at Osgood. Thank you for the visit, Mrs. Sullivan!

Tell a Friend!

Please spread the word about kindergarten registration. The sooner folks register, the more we can share about kindergarten orientation and plan for a successful 2025-26 school year.

Safe Snack List

For the safety of all students, please use this list to choose snacks that are allowed at the Osgood School. We do have a nut free table in the cafeteria, so this guidance is just for snacks, which are most often eaten in classrooms. The list was generated to avoid having our school nurses check all students' snacks each day to be sure they are safe.

Please pack your child's snack separate from their lunch.

Transportation

For information regarding school transportation, please visit the transportation page on the new CPS website. All students must be registered through transportation to ride the bus. However, buses are full at this time and they are placing students on wait lists.
