Inspiring Stories, TV Studio Launch, and Best Buddies Kickoff at Strayer!
Prioritizing Mental Health & Resilience:
Recently, our students had the incredible opportunity to hear from Minding Your Mind guest speakers, who shared powerful personal stories about mental health and resilience. The presentations were tailored to be completely age-appropriate, and I had the privilege of observing several sessions firsthand. I was truly impressed by how engaged and attentive our students were throughout. Hearing trusted adults share authentic stories about overcoming mental health challenges provides a powerful, impactful message for our school community.
On the Air with Mr. Gonce’s Class:
We are thrilled to launch our new TV Studio class with Mr. Gonce! Students in this course have officially begun recording, editing, and producing the daily morning announcements. It has been fantastic seeing their hard work broadcast across the school each morning as they build real-world digital media and editing skills.
Building Strong Connections with Best Buddies:
Our Best Buddies club held its initial informational meeting during PRIDE on Friday, and we had an overwhelming turnout from our students! Best Buddies is an international organization dedicated to fostering an inclusive school environment through one-to-one friendships and fun social opportunities for students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are so excited to see these meaningful connections grow and watch our school community come together for a great year ahead!

PRIDE Spotlight: Digital Citizenship & Safe2Say Something at Strayer
As part of our ongoing commitment to school safety, positive culture, and student well-being, our students will participate in a special school-wide lesson during PRIDE period this week.
Our focus will center on digital citizenship, online communication, and the importance of maintaining a respectful school environment. We will review how choices made on social media and in group chats impact our school culture, while encouraging students to reflect on how they use their voices both online and in person.
In addition, Officer Hendrzak will lead a presentation on the Safe2Say Something platform. Students will review how to recognize genuine safety concerns and properly utilize this confidential reporting tool to help keep our school community safe.
We encourage families to ask their students about what they learned during PRIDE on Monday evening and continue these important conversations about digital responsibility at home.
