Monday Morning Message Monday Morning Message

Parent conferences are an opportunity to affirm and re-engage our students as they head into the second quarter. Even in a short meeting, you can make a big impact by helping parents see their child’s progress and potential.

Below are two approaches for sharing feedback and discussing assessment data (Empower grades, ATLAS scores, etc.). Choose the style that feels most natural to you — the goal is a conversation that’s both constructive and encouraging.

Hope it's a great week of connecting and learning before a 3-day weekend!

Professional Development Agenda

Here is a Detailed Agenda for our October 16th PD day with Tim Brown!

Tim Brown is an internationally recognized presenter and practitioner who specializes in helping school leaders and teachers align their school improvement efforts across an entire campus and/or district. Tim has published and presented works in support of creating and communicating a culture of high expectations, the power of dispersed leadership, being goal oriented, meaningful collaboration, effective assessment, feedback and grading practices, quality instruction that is learning and learner centered, student ownership and motivation through goal setting and tracking their progress, and multitiered systems of supports. In addition, he has researched and has written specifically about positively influencing student self-efficacy and building back hope through the PLC process.

Shout Outs

Shout out to our Weekly Warrior, Melody Harris, who received the sword from Braden Kehl!

Thank you to Jongewaard, Prowell, and Busshaus for hosting Prairie Grove school leaders in their classrooms last week. The guests came to better understand how to support teachers with their growing ELL population. They left with the following reflections from their visit:

a) Students are doing most of the talking.
b) Students are held accountable for participating.
c) Expectations are high and at grade level, even for language learners.
d) Proficiency scales and CFA data supports differentiation.
