Partnering together
Dear BHP Families,
We are seeing some areas where our students need additional practice and reminders at school. One of our biggest areas of focus is helping students understand that behaviors that may be acceptable at home with siblings or family members are not always appropriate at school with classmates. School is a shared space where we expect students to respect personal space and keep our hands to our own body.
We are also working with students on everyday awareness, independence and school routines, including:
Using public restrooms appropriately, including washing hands, throwing paper towels away and maintaining privacy using stalls and urinals.
Keeping your hands to yourself. We teach students to respect their own bodies, respect others’ bodies, and understand that private areas are private.
Practicing appropriate behavior and manners at the lunch table.
For example: The cafeteria is like going to a restaurant with your family for dinner and the manners we use in that situation.
Sitting, eating, and cleaning up after themselves are examples of being respectful and responsible.
At this age, children are still learning how to navigate friendships, boundaries, independence, and what is socially appropriate in different settings. Every situation that arises is an opportunity to teach and help students grow—not only academically, but socially and emotionally. Although these behaviors are part of the learning process, our expectations for behavior are clear and matter.
Our goal is not simply to correct behavior when something goes wrong, but to use these moments to help students understand why certain behaviors are appropriate in one setting and not another. What may be playful or acceptable between siblings or family members at home may not be appropriate with classmates at school. We are teaching students to recognize personal boundaries, respect others, make appropriate choices, and understand the expectations of being part of a school community.
With consistent messages and practice at both home and school, we can help our students develop the social skills, independence, and self-awareness they need to be successful.
We appreciate your partnership in practicing these skills at home. When school and home work together to reinforce the same expectations, our students are better prepared to be safe, respectful, responsible, and successful at school.
With appreciation,
Marlayna Zachary
Progress Reports
📚 Progress Reports & Beginning-of-Year MAP Data
Progress reports went home today! Please be sure to check your child’s folder for their progress report and take a few minutes to review their progress.
You may also see your child’s Beginning-of-Year MAP Growth data. This assessment gives teachers a starting point for understanding what your child knows and is ready to learn. The data helps us identify strengths, areas for growth, and instructional needs so we can provide the right support and challenge throughout the year. We look forward to partnering with you as we help every Buckaroo grow and learn! 🤠
Please see the following document for further information on MAP growth data.
Texan Roots Week
Texan Roots helps us grow in kindness, understand and appreciate others, celebrate what makes each of us unique, reach our goals, and build strong, supportive relationships.
This year we are kicking off Texan Roots Week with a theme around our new
Texan Roots Nature Trail.
Where the journey begins and the roots run deep.
The following flyer outlines the steps students will take to build strong character.
(All activities will take place during the school day with teachers and students only)
Texan Roots Nature Trail will be open to the public starting September 28th
during the week after 6pm and on weekends anytime.
Use of School Property
🌳 After-Hours Use of School Property
We are proud to share our school grounds with our community after school hours and appreciate everyone helping us keep the space safe and welcoming for all. While portions of our campus are open for community use, gated areas—including the Pre-K playground, Adventure Play area, and garden—are off limits after hours.
Recently, we have seen children unsupervised in these restricted areas, jumping fences, moving or throwing equipment, and propping gates open. These actions create safety and security concerns and can result in damage to school property.
We ask that parents and community members help us by supervising children while on school property and respecting all gates, fences, and posted restrictions. Keeping these areas secure protects our students, preserves our shared spaces, and ensures our campus remains a safe place for everyone to enjoy.
Thank you for helping us care for our school and our community! 🤠
Popcorn Fridays
Your Support Makes a Difference!
Our BHP fundraisers do more than raise money—they directly support our students, staff, and school! Funds raised help provide student experiences and resources, classroom and staff needs, and improvements to our school and campus.
Every dollar raised stays focused on making Blue Hole Primary an even better place to learn, grow, and thrive. Thank you for partnering with us and supporting our Buckaroos! 🐮❤️
Transportation Changes
All transportation changes need to go through the front office BEFORE 2:00. You can call our main number at 512-847-3407 or email BHPlogistics@wimberleyisd.net. Transportation changes recieved after 2:00 may not be honored. Please get them in early. When we have to pull a student off the bus to get in the car rider line, it holds up our entire dismissal process.
Please do not rely on the teacher for transportation changes. They are busy teaching and may not be able to check email.
