Students, don't forget to see me to let me know where and what you want sent!

- Does your college of choice have an upcoming deadline of November 12th, November 15th, November 16th, or December 1st? Please plan ahead and check in with Ms. Gentry ASAP! Some colleges require information from your counselor, and counselors require time to be able to complete it. You can check the college websites for specific requirements. Please also make sure that the deadline is correct in Naviance.
- We have lots of college reps visiting Castle View this fall. Reps visit to help students learn more about the college/university, but they are also usually the rep who reads your application and helps you with all steps of the application process. If you list a college in “college I’m applying to” or “colleges I’m thinking about” in Naviance, you will receive an e-mail notification about the visit as soon as it’s scheduled. If you don’t have colleges updated in Naviance, you will have to frequently visit Naviance or the College Visit calendar to check upcoming visits. You must register for each visit in Naviance and pick up your pass the morning of the visit.

CASFA - Colorado Application for State Financial Aid
- CASFA is for students who are not eligible for Federal Student Aid, undocumented students or students from mixed status families or other situations who prefer not to share their contributors' personal data beyond Colorado higher education institutions. Students who complete a CASFA are applying for State and institutional aid only (NOT Federal Student Aid).
- The purpose of the CASFA is to determine need for financial aid awarding purposes to students historically excluded from receiving state and federal financial aid. CASFA positively supports families and is a logical next step in efforts to erase equity gaps and put college in reach for the families who benefit most from a postsecondary education. CASFA also supports the department’s efforts to make college more affordable by reducing the cost of obtaining a credential and maximizing a student’s higher education investment.
CSS Profile
Remember - you do not need to complete the application all at once. You are able to save your application and return to it later.
- Helpful Hint
Sections and questions will be marked as to whether they are about the student or the parent. However, one of the most common mistake's parents who are helping their students make is to answer “Student Status” questions for themselves and not for their student. Most high school seniors will not have legal dependents they support nor will they be veterans.
- Preparing to Apply
Review Getting Started or our tutorial to understand what you may need to have available to complete the application. For information and instructions in Spanish, review en Español.

Only noncustodial parents will create a separate account - learn more about creating a noncustodial account on our Profile for Parents page.
