The BCHS Jag PRIDE Newsletter: A New BCHS Tradition

We are so excited to bring your our first edition of The BCHS Jag PRIDE Newsletter. BCHS is an incredible place where students are learning, growing, and challenging themselves each and every day. To better capture and celebrate the incredible things that happen BCHS while also keeping our community informed of up coming events and new information, we decided to create this newsletter! The BCHS Jag PRIDE Newsletter will be shared monthly with our families to foster communication, community, and Jaguar PRIDE!

Jag Pride Assembly!

Freshmen and Sophomore students went to an assembly put on by StuGo, JALAC and Spiritline the first Friday of the 22-23 school year! At this assembly students learned what "PRIDE" means @ BC and how to show it!

Everyone United

Students also learned how to get involved at the school whether they join a club for a sport!

They ended the assembly learning the BCHS Fight song!

BC Meet the Teacher Night Was a Success

If you didn't have a chance to join us on August 15th, please be sure to still connect with your student's teachers. The relationship between teachers and parents/guardians is crucial to support student success! Also, be sure to get your parent PowerSchool and Canvas log-ins so you can monitor student progress, grades, and attendance!

PRIDE on Day One

All BCHS students learned about how to show their BCHS PRIDE around the campus, in the classroom, and during safety drills/events. You can learn more about BCHS PRIDE in our Student & Parent Handbook on page 49! Part of showing Jaguar Pride in the classroom is being PREPARED with a charged iPad and being on time. Treating others with RESPECT and kindness each and every day. Having INTEGRITY by taking pride in learning. Being DISCIPLINED by keeping cellphones and other distractions in backpacks or at home. Showing PRIDE helps our Jaguars learn and keeps EVERYONE UNITED in our journey to graduation and post-secondary success!

JALAC is made up of representatives from each sport at BCHS. They meet monthly to discuss topics in regards to PRIDE in Athletics and how to keep BC united; through all sports, big or small.

JALAC Mission Statement: Our purpose and mission of JALAC is to establish an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere for all members involved. We will empower students to develop as leaders and advocate for their communities. We look to embrace and support the community our students participate in, one activity at a time.

BCHS Student Government

This past Tuesday, August 30th Stugo members attended the 2022 Fall Spirit Conference at Pinnacle Peak High School. This year's theme was, “Follow the Leadership road,” and our Stugo members “rocked” their costumes. It was a great opportunity to start the upcoming school year successfully. Students participated and effectively interacted in leadership activities and were inspired by fantastic guest motivational speakers (Jesse LeBeau and Russ Peak). Stugo members are very excited to implement what they learned.

Check out Band's new shirt & the story behind it!

Jordan Benjamin is a Junior saxophone player in the boulder creek marching band as well as the section leader, and 1st chair player in the wind ensemble. At the beginning of the year while Mr. Burrola was having a student meeting on zoom discussing the show, Jordan took it upon herself to begin designing the show shirt for this year. She took the ideas that were being discussed and her own inspiration and ideas and put it into a master piece of a design that truly captures the show and feeling of this year. Jordan is extremely talented young student that has a drive and determination to always do her best no matter what.

BCHS is a Professional Learning Community!

Most Friday's during the school year, students get out just a bit early to allow for our teachers to collaborate and support student learning. The 90 minutes that are dedicated to DVUSD PLC time are crucial to BCHS student learning and success. Teachers meet in level teams to collaborate on designing instruction, assessment, and analyzing student data to determine which supports are needed to help our students learn essential course skills. Teachers use this information to adjust classroom instruction, to design targeted intervention or open student sessions for Flex Time, and to create next steps to rally around students and their learning!
