Kindergarten Enrollment for 26-27 School Year
If you have a child who turns five on or before September 1, 2026, your child is eligible to enroll in Kindergarten for the fall of 2026.
Important Upcoming Dates:
December 17, 2025: Kindergarten online registration opens for the 2026-27 school year.
January 14, 2026: Parents/Grown-ups, please join us at 6:00 PM in the Farmington High School Recital Hall for our Kindergarten Information Night.
At our Kindergarten Information Night, we’ll share things you will need to know about this important next step, including an overview of Kindergarten in ISD 192, what kindergarten readiness looks like, how to enroll, early childhood screening, immunization requirements, and future Kindergarten events and how we will stay connected with you between now and the first day of school to ensure a smooth start.
What is UFLI?
UFLI is the word recognition piece to our reading instruction. This is our second year using this highly-structured program. Here are some key concepts of the program and tips to help us ensure our learners build a strong foundation for literacy!
Key Concepts for Parents
Science of Reading: UFLI is grounded in a vast body of research on how the brain learns to read, focusing on explicit connections between letters and sounds (phonics) rather than expecting children to pick them up naturally.
Systematic and Explicit Instruction: Skills are taught directly in a planned, sequential order, with each new concept building logically on previously learned material. This helps prevent gaps in a child's foundational knowledge.
Phonemic Awareness: A significant focus is placed on the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate individual sounds (phonemes) in spoken words, a critical skill for both reading and spelling.
Decoding and Encoding: The program emphasizes both reading words (decoding) and spelling words (encoding) simultaneously, reinforcing the sound-to-letter connection.
Irregular "Heart" Words: Words that don't follow typical phonetic rules are taught specifically. Students learn to "heart" the tricky, or permanently irregular, part of the word, while decoding the regular parts.
Connected Text: Students practice their new skills by reading sentences and passages that primarily use the phonics patterns they have already learned (decodable texts), helping them build fluency and confidence.
Home Practice: The program often includes Home Practice sheets and resources, such as printable alphabet tiles, to help families reinforce learning at home.
How Parents Can Support at Home
Create a Reading Routine: Set aside dedicated time each day to read with your child. Take turns reading aloud and encourage expressive reading.
Practice Phonics and Spelling: Use the provided home practice materials or engage in fun phonics activities and games that reinforce the current skills being learned in class.
Focus on Comprehension: After reading, ask open-ended questions about the story (e.g., "Why do you think the character did that?") to check understanding and encourage critical thinking.
Enhance Vocabulary: Introduce and explain new words during everyday conversation or while reading together to expand your child's word knowledge.
Stay Informed: Maintain communication with your child's teacher to understand the specific concepts being covered and to request additional supporting resources or advice.
Use the UFLI Parent Resource Hub: For more parent information and great activities for students check out the UFLI website: https://ufli.education.ufl.edu/resources/parent/primary/
New or Gently Used Winter Gear
Miss Anna, our Meadowview Family Support Worker, is currently looking for donations of new or gently used winter gear. Snow pants (of all sizes), waterproof gloves or mittens, and winter boots (all sizes) would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be brought to the office. Thank you!
Feeling Under the Weather? When to Stay Home!
As we enter cold and flu season, we get a lot of questions about when students should come to school and when they should stay home. Please take a look at the picture from our Health Office and Nurse Betty
Meadowview PTP NEWS
Stay tuned as the link ( PTP Linktree) for MVE staff and teachers’ favorite things go live this Monday! The PTP has compiled a list of teacher’s classroom wish lists along with a few personal favorite items. Of course there is no pressure to give any items, but some people have shown interest, so we wanted to hold all the info in one location.
Find all info on what the PTP is up to here!
Next PTP meeting: Tuesday, December 9. Hope to see you there!
2025-26 MVE Dress Up Days
Important School Information
Recess & Outdoor Breaks
Please be sure to send cold weather gear with students each day! Students will go outside for recess and/or break if temperature is above 0 degrees (actual temperature or wind chill temperature). Often temperature fluctuates throughout the day, so while we may not go out for recess, classrooms may go out for afternoon break.
Online Attendance Form
Is your student ill? Do they have an appointment and will be late to school? Planning a vacation? All of these situations and more can be reported to the Meadowivew Office through our online attendance form! Head over to the Meadowview Home Page to find the Student Absence Form or you can use the link below:
Meadowview School Hours
7:25am - first bell rings, doors unlock for students to enter the building
7:40am - last bell rings, learning begins
2:10pm - dismissal, students are walked out by classroom teachers
Lunch Times for Grade Levels
Kindergarten - 10:15am
1st Grade - 10:50am
2nd Grade - 10:30am
3rd Grade - 11:20am
4th Grade - 11:00am
5th Grade - 11:30am
Attendance Tip!
Getting to school on time is just as important as being at school. Research shows that continued tardiness leads to poor attendance. Many of the most important parts of a student's day happen within the first 15 minutes. This is often when they have a time to socialize with their peers, orient themselves for the day, take care of necessary business, and connect with their teacher before the day starts. Never underestimate the power of the first 15 minutes of school!
End of Day Routine
Please make sure your child's teacher has an accurate, up-to-date plan for your child's dismissal at the end of the day.
When changes are needed, please communicate those changes with your child's teacher prior to the start of the school day. We cannot always guarantee teachers will see emails during the work day (as it depends on the activities they have planned with the students).
For EMERGENCY CHANGES, please communicate with the teacher and call the front office no later than 2pm. Changes to end of day routines are difficult for students and teachers. If at all possible please change YOUR routine instead of your students routine.
