Message from Mrs. Russell
Notes for the week:
We are so excited to welcome in February, Kindness Month! Our Capturing Kids' Hearts Theme of the month will be seen in a lot of ways in our building. We will be focusing on students giving each other affirmations and treating one another with kindness and respect. Our Kindness Spirit Days begin next Tuesday and is posted below. Remember that we have one remaining professional development day for our staff on Monday, February 9th which means no school for students.
Our district Peacemaking ceremony is Monday night! If your student was nominated for a Peacemaking Award, please note that the ceremony was rescheduled for Monday, February 2nd at 6PM in the high school gymnasium.
Thank you for your continued support of our district attendance: Show Your Oiler Pride, Strive for Five, which sets a goal of 5 absences or fewer from January to June! We know illness happens, but we want and need our Oilers at school. Remember: students can enter the building starting at 7:25 and have plenty of time to get breakfast and make it to class by 7:40. If transportation is a concern, please call the front office. We are happy to assist!

A MESSAGE FROM YSU
How We Respond Matters
A lot of life is out of our control, especially when you’re young. School schedules, rules, moves, and many expectations are often decided for you. We also can’t control how other people speak to us or act toward us.
While you can’t control many of these things, you can control how you respond. Many people can face the same challenge or opportunity and end up in very different places. Often, the difference is how they respond.
Our responses to situations matter with what happens next, the choices we see, and the direction we move. Even when we can’t control what happens, we can always choose how to respond and move forward.
For example, if someone insults you, it’s natural to want to immediately return the insult. Instead, take a breath and consider a measured response, such as staying silent, responding calmly with no emotion, or simply walk away. It can feel unnatural, but if measured responses were more common, relationships, schools, and society would be better for it.
Stay safe!
-Officer Leonard

TRAVELING STUDENT INFO
MPMS Accelerated Math Program and MPMS French Students Attendance on Days with an Irregular Schedule
For Elementary Students Attending MPMS
These students WILL NOT attend on most days that alter the daily schedule, including delay days, half days, and days where MPMS students start with first hour. One issue is that there may not be a bus available to transport them back to their elementary schools. Another issue on delay days is that they will be finished with their MPMS math class long before their elementary start time.
The only exception to this rule will be days where they will be taking their trimester exams. They will indeed attend on exam days, even with the change in schedule.
For MPMS Students Attending MPHS
These students WILL NOT attend on delay days, half days, and all other irregular days unless otherwise instructed by their MPHS Math/French teacher.
