Woodcrest News Woodcrest News

Hello Woodcrest Families,

We are closing in on the first day of school, and the anticipation of a new school year is building throughout Woodcrest Elementary School!

Teachers and staff have been in and out of school throughout the week, decorating classrooms and preparing materials to welcome your children on Tuesday, September 2. We are excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways, bringing energy and enthusiasm for learning.

Teachers will be sending home communication to students and families next week. I encourage you to share these messages with your child(ren), and to maintain these open lines of communication throughout the year. Together, we can provide the support and guidance our students need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally this year.

Please be on the lookout for additional Woodcrest communication this week. More details will be shared about arrival and dismissal procedures, specifically for the first two days of school.

I hope you enjoy these last few days of summer vacation with your family and friends. I look forward to seeing all of our Woodcrest Sharks on September 2!

Sincerely,

Alison McCartney

Principal, Woodcrest Elementary School

Woodcrest earns a Promising Practice Award from Character.org

The 5th Grade Safety Program has been recognized by Character.org as a 2025 Promising Practice for demonstrating a significant impact and aligning with one or more of the 11 Principles Framework for Schools.

5th Grade Safeties support younger students throughout the day, specifically at lunch, recess and dismissal. Safeties serve as role models, demonstrating our core values in actions, and helping our younger students interact with one another in positive ways. Thank you to Mrs. Gardner and Mrs. Lynch for leading our 5th Grade Safety Program!
