Discussion regarding adding days to BITT contracts
(Building Instructional Technology Technicians) formerly called Lab ManagersMany BITTs are already working longer than their contract in exchange for comp time.
Adding a few days would allow BITTs more time to prepare for the beginning of school and/or finish end of year tasks related to 1 to 1 technology.
Kelly Hayes is still gathering information before making a final decision.
Smore from April reached 2005 visits
The committee received a great response from classified staff regarding the ease of use using this method to disseminate information.
Damon Donnell is looking for input on how to get more classified staff to use their email routinely.
Some obstacles are observed:
Many classified staff don’t have district issued devices
Some classified staff don’t know how to check their email
Apprehension of using a personal device (phone) during work hours for fear of getting in trouble.
Possible solutions
Training
Access to a device in a break room or shared space
Incentives to motivate usage with giveaways or prizes
Treehouse Pantry Update
Make sure to sign up for slots when they are announced
Show up for assigned time slot
Some staff have had issues completing the survey. Damon Donnell will do a short tutorial on how to use “sign up genius”
Classified Banquet will be back next year
Evaluations for Classified Staff
Yearly evaluations are a policy
Some departments still haven’t received evaluations
The committee concern if the policy isn’t being followed, then it needs to be removed from policy
Final Reading of PPC Bylaws
PPC made a motion for 2 positions per each of the following classifications for next school year:
Maintenance & Operations
Custodial
Transportation
Food Service
Clerical
Aids and Paraprofessionals
Social Workers
Nurses
Technology
At Large
- Bylaws will be posted in a work room. The PPC will send the Bylaws digitally and have each building post a copy in the work room/shared space.
Incentive for subs will be discontinued for next school year (this lines up with Rogers and Bentonville are doing), however there will be a small increase in pay
Incentives for bus drivers will continue in an effort to retain and hire more drivers
Bus Aides will receive a the $20/day incentive beginning next year
Classified PPC will line up their meetings to match the Certified PPC’s schedule instead of every month.
Kelly Hayes will look into reinstating the Classified Shelf. (Damon Donnell & Maribel Tapia agreed to help facilitate)
Approved Minutes from April
Waivers
The Licensure waiver would allow qualified professionals to teach and could also help in long term sub situations.
Class size waiver would benefit the district allowing students to stay in their zoned school and reduce the amount of “forced transfers”.
