Jonathan Alder Junior High
January 10, 2025
Message from the Principal
JAJHS Families,
Welcome to 2025! I hope you and your family had a wonderful break and holiday season!
It was great to have our students back in the building this week. The weather gave us a challenging start, but by the end of this week, routines were back in place, and our students were back in their grooves!
Today, we wrap up the 2nd quarter and 1st semester and head into the second half of the year. It’s always impressive to see the ways our students have grown so much as we reach this midpoint. I’m proud of the many ways we’ve seen our students show success this year. From music and athletics to academics and social skills - our kids give us a lot to celebrate.
Please review the newsletter below for important information and reminders.
I hope you and your family have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mr. Malany
Principal

Thank You from the 7th Grade Math Team
The 7th grade math team would like to extend gratitude to all of the families that donated to our cookie lab in December. We had so much fun solving equations and eating cookies before break!
Future-Ready Career Chats
Jr. High students get Future Ready with local professionals through Career Chats. Jonathan Alder is committed to preparing students for success, and we began piloting our Future Ready Skills curriculum in 2024. A Future Ready program being offered to our 7th-8th grade students is Career Chats during their Advisory time. Career chats are an opportunity for students to have conversations with local professionals with a range of education and career experiences, including medical, manufacturing, I.T., construction trades, and more.
Next week, we welcome Mr. Kyle Huston. Mr. Huston, OSU Wexner Medical Center, is a Clinic Manager in the department of Family and Community Medicine. Kyle is responsible for overseeing two clinics on Columbus’ East side, including Outpatient Care Gahanna and Urgent Care on Rocky Fork Blvd. Kyle will share with students the importance of leadership of others, communication, and organization, which enable Kyle and the OSU Wexner team to deliver excellent care to all.
Q2 Report Cards
Printed 2nd Quarter Report Cards will be sent home with students on Friday, January 17th. As a reminder, grades are always available on Canvas for families to review.

Medications at School
Sometimes parents ask that school personnel administer medication to their child during the school day. When this is necessary, we require written permission and instructions from the parent and in some instances from the doctor. The required form must be completed and turned in to the junior high office with the medication to be administered.
