Hello Navigators,
I can't wait to see everyone on the first day of school, Tuesday, August 15th. This newsletter contains a lot of information so please read carefully.
Teacher assignments will be published in the Aeries parent Portal on Monday 8/14/23.
Please note that the first week of school, August 15 - August 18th are all shortened days for all students with school starting at 8:15 and dismissal at 12:25 PM. For Grades 1st-5th on August 21st we will begin our typical schedule with school beginning at 8:15 and dismissal at 2:55, with Wednesday's following the shortened schedule with a 12:25 dismissal.
For Kindergarten see this form and for Transitional Kindergarten see this form. You have slightly different schedules and opportunities. Feel free to contact the office for more information. We will also have an orientation for Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten at 2 PM tomorrow. You can report to the MPR/Auditorium and you will then be directed to your child's classroom.
Parents will be allowed to walk students on campus to their lines on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. After that date we will close the campus and students can be dropped at the gate.
Traffic is always a challenge at Nichols. We have solid procedures in place to ensure students are safe and ask for patience as we work through the process. Traffic is always worse the first few weeks of school so just be aware and we will all work together through this.
For arrival we will open the gate to the left of the office (MPR gate) and back gate at 7:45. We will have a sign and open the MPR door to the left of the MPR gate for TK and Kindergarteners to enter through.
Our office will be open from 9-2 PM tomorrow for registration. Come by if you need assistance.
Please print and sign the Emergency card and bring that to the office or send it with your student the first week of school.
We also need ALL families to complete the following two forms related to school meals.

All meals will continue to be free of charge for students.
Please consider joining our PTO. Membership is $10 and support is so appreciated. The PTO does amazing things for the school including supporting field trips, planning events and assisting our classrooms. Check out the first edition of the PTO Newsletter! You can also find PTO information on their website.
Our new playground structures are still under construction and are scheduled to be completed in early September. We had hoped it would be done by the start of school but there were unexpected delays. I have seen the plans and once complete it should be amazing! We have plans in place to ensure students can play.
We are looking forward to a great year and be on the lookout for more information in the coming days/week.
