Dear Wildwood Families,
We hope this weekly letter finds you all doing well getting ready for some warm spring weather. We wanted to share with everyone how much the teachers appreciated the kind words and pictures shared this week to honor Teacher Appreciation Week. It also follows that YOU deserve to be acknowledged for the work you are doing to support your own children with their learning in the new environment. Additionally, a special thank you goes out to our PTA for their touching video and gift cards for our teachers!
Partnering with parents and having the opportunity to talk about your child's education is so important. This past Monday, Marisa Gines, Assistant Principal, and I hosted a virtual Q&A with families. It was great "seeing" families and discussing ways we can improve online learning as we navigate this partnership together. We would like to host another "Coffee with the Principals" this coming Monday. Ms. Gines will host a Spanish-speaking one from 3:00-3:30 and I will host an English-speaking one from 3:30-4:00. Zoom links will be sent out on Sunday night. We look forward to visiting with you.
Lastly, you should have received an email with a link to complete the district continuous learning plan survey. If you have not already done so, please check your email for the survey link. It will ask you questions about how remote learning is going for you and your child. We will use this feedback to implement next steps in our continuous learning plan. The survey will be open for one week and will close on May 12, 2020. Thanks in advance for participating in the survey,
If I can help in anyway or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
In partnership,
Sarah Jackson

Message From the Counselor!
Hello Wildwood Wildcats!
Hello Wildcats we miss you all a whole lot. I know it may seem at times you are running a marathon but stay strong and just keep going. I want to encourage you to keep checking your teacher’s website’s on a weekly basis. Continue to challenge yourself to practice and turn in your school work each week and don’t be afraid to reach out to us if you need help.
Although, you don’t come to a school building everyday we are still here for you. Oh yes that’s right your teacher’s are more than happy to answer your questions and all questions are good questions! We want to hear from you and we are thinking of ways to make learning a fun and unique experience for you.
Healthy Habits are things we all do to stay well and on track like going on a 10 minute walk a day. Another healthy habit I want you to work on is scheduling an appointment with your school work everyday at the same time. Maybe after you eat breakfast in the morning or right after lunchtime. Do what works for you and your family but make time to read daily and go to your teacher’s Zoom meetings. They want to see all of your faces and your classmates do too!!
What does PAWS look like at home this week? We are all learning how to be in school, at home. How are you doing with your Zoom meetings and checking your teacher’s Website?
Which brings me to PAWS
Our fourth Letter in our PAWS is “S”
S is the letter of today which stands For:
Show Respect: Remember to show respect online and obey online etiquette. To ensure everyone has a supportive learning environment, your actions online are being monitored. Remember the “Golden Rule”. Treat people the way you want to be treated. Everyone deserves respect. Set boundaries for yourself. Mom and dad may be working from home. It is important that you remember to set quite time hours in your daily schedule. Where you do not disturb your parents. Unless it is absolutely necessary. Showing respect is always an expectation.
Problem-Solving Steps: When you are playing games with your siblings and things aren’t working out be sure to ignore it or go to another game. You could also find a parent and “Say the problem without blame”. It is important that you continue to use your Kelso’s Choices.
A Family Activity - Just Dance: Each family member takes turns dancing to their favorite song. Each family member can rate each other with points. The family member with the most points wins, use your imagination and be creative. Be your own star ⭐️
Exercise Daily: Stay committed to doing some form of daily exercise that you enjoy! Dancing, riding a bike, walking are all good ways to stay active and healthy as we practice social distancing.
Kelso Choices: Remember when you are home with your family and conflict may arise. It is not only about how you feel. It is also about how they feel, put yourself in the other person’s shoes. Use your Kelso Choices to talk it out with a family member or find a learning space make a deal, share and take turns when small problems show up.
Toolbox: Your toolbox are the supports you have available to you to help you solve problems and work through conflicts.
Question: What is in your toolbox today?
Answer: Today we talked about Kelso Choices, For example ignore it if siblings aren’t playing fair because you can simply go to another game. We also talked about our problem-solving steps
when you need to ask for help by saying the problem without blame.
Positive Self- talk: “I can be the biggest brightest star in the universe but I have to be willing to try”. This means that even if you don’t know how to do something just be willing to try and ask for help when you need it.
My final message to you: We are here for you and we are running the race besides you all the way to the finish line !!!
Parents you can schedule an appointment with me for you or your student using Appointment Plus: (please be sure to be present with your students during the appointment). I have special office hours for these appointments that will appear when you click on the link below. Link: https://booknow.appointment-plus.com/y7e0jgzk/
Stay Happy, calm and healthy,
Ms.Davis
