Sunnyvale ISD is proud to celebrate kindergarten student Katie Luthen for her outstanding achievement in the PTA Reflections arts program this year.

PTA Reflections is a nationwide arts initiative by the National PTA that invites students to create original works of art inspired by an annual theme. This year’s theme, “I Belong,” encouraged students to express where and how they see themselves in the world.

Katie’s visual arts entry, “I Belong Doing Art,” advanced all the way to the state level. Out of nearly 60,000 entries statewide, less than 3 percent move on to state, making her accomplishment especially remarkable as a kindergartener.

Congratulations, Katie, and thank you to our families and PTA for supporting the arts.

SIS students, guided by teacher Macey McCool, recently visited Tom Thumb to put their classroom economic skills into real-world practice. The hands-on experience gave students the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in a meaningful and engaging way.
