Nespeca's Notes
It is hard to believe it is already October! We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has donated to help make our fundraiser such a success. Your generosity makes a direct impact as every dollar goes right back into our school to support our students and staff.
We also have a busy month ahead filled with exciting activities including Red Ribbon Week, College Week, Breast Cancer Awareness Days, the Book Fair, and our Spirit Shop, just to name a few! In addition, there are several parent events and important information about our upcoming Veterans Day Program included below.
Please take a moment to read everything carefully so you do not miss any important details!
Be sure to check out the Fun Run section below as it is packed with helpful information to make our day run smooth!
Fun Run-October 9
Our Fun Run and Jump Rope Event is coming up on Thursday, October 9, during your child’s PE time. Note: Pre-K will run during the Kindergarten time. Mrs. Williams’ class will run with the 4th graders in Mrs. Parrish’s class, and Mrs. Peterson’s class will run with the 2nd graders in Mrs. Ivey’s class.
If you would like to come cheer on your student, please click the link below to pre register and skip the check in lines.
Please note:
- If you plan to take your child home after the event, teachers will have clipboards outside for you to sign your child out.
- After signing out, your child will return inside with their class to collect belongings and then meet you at Door 21 in the front.
- If you would like to check out a sibling at the same time, please send a note that morning. You will need to sign the sibling out at the front desk first. Once signed out, the sibling will be released from the front desk. After that, you may proceed to Door 21 to pick up your other child who you signed out with their teacher.
No lunch visitors on Thursday, October 9 — due to the Fun Run, we are not able to accommodate lunch guests that day.
Thank you for your support. We cannot wait to celebrate this fun and active event together!
Attendance Matters
We’ve noticed an increase in students, especially in 5th grade, leaving early in the afternoons. While we understand that “life happens,” we kindly ask that you make every effort to keep your child at school for the full day. Every second counts!
Please remember that if you plan to check your child out early, you will need to send a note with them in the morning.
Student Holidays
Pink October
Kinder-Pumpkin with Parents
We would love to invite you to join in the pumpkin carving fun! We need your help
with dissecting and car ving pumpkins. Along with having fun, the boys and girls
can describ e the weight of the pumpkin, explore the insides of a pumpkin and
scoop out the pulp & seeds, count the number of seeds, etc. We will provide
butcher paper for you to create your masterpiece. Click the link below for more information.
5th Grade-Pumpkin Palooza
Fifth grade students are learning about character traits in class. Students are invited to decorate a pumpkin at home as their favorite book character and bring it to school to display in the library. The pumpkin is completely optional. Please click the link below for more information.
Gifted and Talented Testing
ALL Kindergarten students will be screened for GT in early spring, so no referral is required. Parents not wanting their kindergarten student screened may opt out by following the directions noted here.
Parents of currently enrolled students in grades 1-5 may request testing for the HORIZONS program. Requests for mid-year screening are accepted through Friday, November 21, 2025, and are made through the CFISD Parent Portal: https://launchpad.classlink.com/cfisdparents. Testing will occur in January and early February. (In grades 1-5, testing is for services beginning in the 2026-27 school year. For Kindergarten, services will start in March, 2026.)
For more information about the HORIZONS program and referral process, please refer to the CFISD Gifted & Talented HORIZONS site.
Lunch Visitors Reminders
Please remember that lunch visitors are limited to four times per month. We are not able to accommodate visits more than this limit, and visitors who exceed the allowable number will be turned away. Also, we encourage you to arrive five to ten minutes before your child’s lunch time to allow plenty of time for check in.
Thank you for helping us keep our lunch procedures smooth and enjoyable for everyone!
