Biddeford Center of Technology
March 18, 2026
Dear Parents, Students, and Families,
Scholarship Opportunities Now Posted
We’re excited to share that the Biddeford Regional Center of Technology scholarship opportunities are now posted on our website. These scholarships are available to support our students as they take the next step in their education and careers. BRCOT has two applications on the site. One for students going on to 2 and 4 year colleges and another labeled TRADE scholarship. This is primarily for students entering the workforce in their field or an apprenticeship and need start-up tools. Students also attending college may need tools for their program of study and can complete the trade tool application also. Sponsors of scholarship are also listed and may have specific criteria to meet to be considered for the scholarship. Families and students can find the full list of available scholarships, eligibility requirements, and application information by visiting the BRCOT website.
We encourage eligible students to apply. Scholarships are a great way to recognize the hard work, dedication, and achievements of our CTE students while helping them pursue postsecondary training, college, or career pathways.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us or your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns at 207-282-1501.
Sincerely,
Paulette Bonneau
Director
Center of Technology Enrollment
Now is the time to consider enrolling your child in the various programs at the Biddeford Regional Center of Technology (COT). If your child is interested in career and technical education opportunities, the COT is now scheduling program visits and accepting applications for the 2026-2027 School Year. Space is limited, so we encourage you to talk with your child about the options available and have them schedule an appointment with their guidance counselor.
Career Pathways!
Our Career Pathways Office works with all of BRCOT’s students and staff in a wide-ranging approach to help students be more prepared for the careers and working world ahead of them. Internships are just one of the many ways BRCOT and Career Pathways partner with employers in the community to help students gain these crucial workplace skills and experiences. Students can do an internship as part of a class they are enrolled in or sign up for the upcoming academic year for an internship through BRCOT as a separate class/experience entirely. Students maintain a minimum set of work hours per week, gain invaluable hands-on experience in a field they are passionate about, complete additional workshops and meetings with the Career Pathways Office, and earn course credit. Through social media and our monthly newsletters, we’ll continue to highlight these student interns and the community employers who host them!

BRCOT Highlights
A New Addition!
The BRCOT EMT program recently upgraded its training fleet with the addition of a 2016 Ford F-450 4x4 Road Rescue ambulance conversion. The vehicle, powered by a 6.7L Powerstroke diesel engine, has just 79,000 miles and comes from a single-service owner. It was traded in from Lyndon Rescue in Lyndonville, VT, where it served the community reliably for years.
This newer ambulance replaces the program’s 2003 truck, which had accumulated over 116,000 miles. The updated unit will provide students with hands-on experience using more modern emergency response equipment and a current ambulance layout, helping them better prepare for a real-world EMS environment.
Expanding Opportunities!
BRCOT second-year Electrical students are gaining valuable real-world experience by roughing in the electrical service for a seasonal home in Saco. In addition to completing the hands-on installation, students designed the entire service layout and developed a full materials and parts list. Projects like this allow students to apply their classroom knowledge in an authentic job-site setting while supporting our local community. Opportunities like these help build confidence, strengthen technical skills, and prepare students for successful careers in the electrical trades.
Representing BRCOT at the ProStart Competition!
From Classroom to Competition Floor! Our Biddeford Regional Center of Technology Culinary and Hospitality students brought the heat at the Maine ProStart State Invitational—earning 2nd place in Culinary and 3rd place in Hospitality! This was the first time that our programs entered this prestigious State-wide competition.
With just two butane burners (no running water or electricity!), the culinary team crafted a stunning three-course “Día de los Muertos” menu, while our hospitality students impressed judges with their innovative airport dining concept, World Table. Beyond the medals, students earned scholarships and showcased the creativity, teamwork, and real-world skills that define career and technical education. We are incredibly proud of how they represented BRCOT—confident, prepared, and ready for what’s next.
Exploring Opportunities Outside of BRCOT!
Career Possibilities!
Valuable Experience!
BRCOT Athletic Training and Sports Medicine students recently visited SMHC Sports Performance Center. During their visit, students had the opportunity to explore and learn about the wide range of tools, technology, and equipment used in sports performance training. They also engaged with professionals to learn more about the various career pathways within the field and the education and experience needed to pursue those opportunities. This hands-on experience provided valuable insight into the skills, knowledge, and dedication required to succeed in sports performance and sports medicine careers.
Making a difference!
Last month, Biddeford Regional Center of Technology (BRCOT) proudly participated in Career & Technical Education Month at the Maine State House, joining students and educators from across Central and Southern Maine. The event, hosted by the Maine Department of Education and Maine CTE, took place in the Hall of Flags and highlighted the powerful impact of hands-on, career-focused learning opportunities for students statewide. BRCOT was represented by Mr. Bouthillette and Mr. Wilder, who connected with stakeholders, legislators, and fellow educators throughout the day. They shared examples of student projects and provided hands-on demonstrations that showcased the real-world skills and experiences our programs offer.
Events like this help strengthen partnerships, raise awareness about Career & Technical Education, and celebrate the outstanding work happening every day in our classrooms and labs. We are proud to represent BRCOT and the incredible accomplishments of our students and staff.
