A Note from Mrs. Tapscott
Dear Hillcrest Families,
As we approach the holiday season, I want to take a moment to wish you all a very happy holiday! I hope you enjoy a wonderful break filled with time spent with family, friends, and loved ones. Please remember to stay warm and cherish the memories you create together during this special time.
When we return in January, we will be placing a strong emphasis on students keeping their hands to themselves. While our disciplinary issues at Hillcrest are not extreme, we have noticed some minor physical aggression among students. We kindly ask that you speak with your child about this matter. Together, we can set behavioral goals to ensure a positive environment for everyone.
Additionally, I encourage you to discuss with your child some strategies they can use when they become upset. Remind them that using words is far stronger than hitting or kicking. Teaching them to express their feelings verbally can lead to healthier interactions with their peers.
Thank you for your continued support, and I wish you a peaceful and joyful holiday season!
Warm regards,
Cami Tapscott
Snow Days
The school district has made the decision that we will use old fashioned snow days if we do have inclement weather this winter. We are not ruling out using E-Learning Days for an extended storm or cold snap, but our intention is to use a regular snow day and make it up at the end of the school year should it be needed. Students will not be required to do any work if a snow day is issued, and they will be able to enjoy the weather safely from inside their homes (or out in the snow!).
Winter Weather
Winter is here!!! Please make sure that you send your student to school with appropriate winter apparel. Students will go outside to play as long as the "feel like" temperature is above 10 degrees. Students should have a winter coat, a hat, and gloves. If your students need help getting these items, please let your student's teacher know. We will be sure to find winter gear to keep all kids warm this winter!
If there is snow on the ground, students will be expected to wear snow boots, snow pants, a winter coat, a hat, and gloves in order to play in the snow.
